Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 005hrs LZ Dragon received approximately 31 rounds of 60mm mortar also received small arms fire along with 6 82mm mortar, rounds with negative casualties or damage. At 0100hrs Late Entry LZ lowboy at BS913151 received unknown number of mortars, small arms fire and m-79 fire, negative casualties, return fire with unknown results. At 0945hrs 1-20 Infantry Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry at 0935hrs vicinity BS832361, BS832358 received automatic weapons fire from 10 VC negative casualties and return fire. Bravo Company 3-1 Infantry is still located at LZ Bronco. At 0929hrs Colonel Chapman observed 2 VC in gray to blue uniforms with weapons at BS742416. At 1145hrs 1-20 Infantry Charlie company vicinity BS869317 request Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese Civilian who was shot in ankle was completed at 1328hrs. At 1210hrs 1-20 Infantry reports 3-1 Infantry vicinity BS854360 found small hospital containing 2 US cots, 2 US blankets, 5 mess trays and 7 forks, 2 new rain jackets, different type of medicine, 2 new sawing machines. Also 3 air matters, 5 entrenching tolls, 5 canteens, 7 new coffins, 5 NVA shirts, 7 US soft caps, 1 canteen US, 2 combat boots US, 40 expended 50 caliber rounds. Along with M16 magazine, 5 US field mess kits, several water proof bags, 3 pair US socks, also with 3 new US poncho and all items destroyed. At 1245hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Military Team vicinity BS786429 received sniper fire on red ball around area near church, return fire and saw 3-4 VC running into the woods. At 1455hrs Helix 37 at BS707447, air strike 1 secondary explosion along with 2 sustained fires. At 1831hrs 1-20 Infantry reports locations of 3-1 Infantry Bravo Company 45 at BS743538, 14 at BS725546, 15 at Bs728548, 44 at BS744531, 75 at BS713541, 94 at BS723537, and 74 at BS718386. Charlie Company reports their night locations 44 at BS808357, 74 at BS793403, 79 at BS797386, 14 at BS823365, 49 at BS804364, and 19 at BS828366. At 2145hrs 1-20 Infantry Bravo Company 3-1 Infantry at BS729553 received 5-10 rounds small arms fire, observed 6 VC in open, engage with small arms fire, will check area first light, negative casualties VC were moving southeast. At 2345hrs 1-20 Infantry SRRP Calvin at BS851390 received either M-79, RPG or mortar fire, results 2 US WHA (M) extracted at 0043hrs. The extraction ship received automatic weapons fire from position 20 meters away took several hits, negative casualties, EM while getting on ship dropped his M-16 and left it there, Gun Ships and artillery hit top of hill weapon likely destroyed.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0015hrs LZ Bronco reports on 8 rounds of 82mm mortar they impact on north end of runway, negative casualties, unknown damage, return fire artillery at suspected location of BS805415. At 1155hrs E Troop at 1020hrs vicinity BS886284 tracks escorting mine sweep engaged by hand grenades and small arms fire, return fire and results 1 US WIA. At 1615hrs LZ Bronco received 3 104mm rockets with negative damage or casualties, but MACV Duc Pho reports 4 children KIA and 8 adults civilian WIA along with 5 houses destroyed. At 1915hrs LZ Bronco received 8 rounds 82mm mortar impact on north end of runway and artillery hill results in 12 US WIA. The WIA 7 from 6-11 Artillery, 2 serious and 5 WHA (M) and 5 WIA (M) from HHC 4-21 Infantry mortar located at BS814404 and engaged with artillery, 81mm, and gun ships also on station with negative assessment.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown with 44 on Bridge 94 and 45 on Bridge 95. Late entry LZ Lowboy at BS913151 received unknown number of mortars, small arms and M-79 fire with negative casualties, return fire with unknown results. At 1230hrs Alpha Company 14 is located at BS918240. At 1830hrs Alpha Company has 18 at BS933242 and 48 at BS934328. At 2345hrs 1-20 Infantry SRRP Calvin at BS851390 received either M-79, RPG or mortar fire, results 2 US WHA (M), extracted at 0043hrs. Extraction ship received automatic weapons fire from a position 20 meters away took several hits, negative casualties, EM while getting on ship, dropped his M-16 and left it there and Gun ships and Artillery hit top of hill, weapon likely destroyed.
