Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0407hrs Alpha Company on LZ Vanguard had trip flare go off on northwest side of perimeter, Recon by Fire, and fired Illumination with negative findings. At 0459hrs Inferno black (Bravo 123 Aviation) working Nighthawk Box 67X then LZ Snoopy perimeter and broke station at 0507hrs. At 0730hrs S-4 Re supply is on station call sign Rattler 19 (176 Aviation). At 10005hrs Inferno 59 (Bravo 123 Aviation) is working Air Calvary Box 57. At 1030hrs LATE SPOT Time of event 0830hrs Alpha Company at BS577433 request 1 priority Dust Off for Kit Carson Scout from Alpha Company with appendicitis, Dust Off #59 was completed at 1030hrs. At 0900hrs To Brigade: Eagle Flight request for 1000hrs at 28 August 1971, with Alpha, Charlie and Delta Companies. At 1140hrs Inferno 59 (Bravo 123 Aviation) found 4 hootches and inserted the blues found a NVA pistol belt with US ammo pouch attached ammo pouch had 1 M-16 magazines inside with 20 rounds of M-16 ammo. Also at grid BS832425, found old hootch on side of the Hill at 548432 found old trench Blues extracted at 1205hrs Inferno Blue breaking station at 1220hrs. At 1645hrs 2-4 ARVN at 618568 have 1 ARVN step on a unknown type of mine, man had leg wounds and was Dust Off to Quang Ngai by US Dust Off completed at 1345hrs. At 1827hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry released from OPCON back to their Parent Unit 3-1 Infantry (they where OPCON to 1-20 Infantry from 0800hrs August 25, 1971). At 2110hrs 1-20 Infantry will receive 2 scout dogs 1 for Bravo Company and 1 for Charlie Company. At 2358hrs Inferno Black (Bravo 123 Aviation) checked LZ Snoopy at 2358hrs and broke station to refuel at 0025hrs and at 0050hrs Inferno checking Nighthawk Box 51 and at 0132hrs checked Bronco Perimeter and broke station at 04145hrs. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97 and CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company
August 27, 1971
Alpha Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Vanguard. At 0407hrs Alpha Company reports form LZ Vanguard had trip flare go off on northwest side of perimeter. Alpha Company has return fire with Recon by Fire and fired Illumination with negative finding. At 0830hrs Alpha Company at LZ Vanguard one Priority Dust Off for Kit Carson Scout from Alpha Company with possible appendicitis, Dust Off completed at 1030hrs. Alpha Company conducts Eagle Flight 1st LZ Alpha Company 30 packs to BS588415 ant 20LZ Alpha Company 30 packs to BS613408. At 1550hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon moving to BS578435 and then at 1615hrs Alpha Company moved to BS580435 and then back to LZ Vanguard and their Security Mission for LZ Vanguard.
Bravo Company
August 27, 1971
At 0800hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon is moving out to BS647415 and at 1035hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon closed on BS651414. At 1410hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon is moving to BS650417 and the 1st Platoon is moving to BS6504413. At 1605hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon closed on BS651414. At 1948hrs Bravo Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS648419. At 2110hrs 1-20 Infantry received word that they will received 1 scout dog for Bravo Company tomorrow.
Charlie Company

At 1035hrs Charlie Company is moving to BS634410 and at 1410hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon moving to BS636403 and at 1727hrs Charlie Company moving to their Night Defense Position at BS655395 and closed at 1921hrs.
Delta Company
August 27, 1971
At 1605hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon is moving to BS675428 closed on that location at 1630hrs. At 1735hrs closed back at LZ Vanguard and continued their Security Mission for LZ.
Echo Company
August 27, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
