Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0530hrs Battalion Command Message passed to all companies, "Take Your Salt Pills". At 0930hrs Helix 31 has Air Strike going into BS764434. And at 1002hrs Helix 31 gives a Bomb Damage Assessment 5 structures destroyed, 3 structures damage, 1 large secondary explosion, and 1 sustained fire.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 08445hrs Charlie Company 19 Engineer at BS917253 was inspecting work site and discovered culvert wall was blown out. Area secured and element started to repair wall (Info only). At 1720hrs 11 Brigade Headquarter at LZ Bronco received 3 140mm rockets from BS789318, 1 hit top of LZ and 1 ½ up hill with negative casualties or damage, 1 hit 174 Aviation with results 2 Medics WIA (M).
Alpha Company

At 0930hrs Alpha Company found 3 more booby traps (grenade type) in same general area. They blew in place. At 1600hrs Alpha Company new location BS718584 at 2030hrs Alpha Company we will have an OP 300 meters north of our Night Defense Position.
Bravo Company
August 27, 1969
At 0515hrs Bravo Company we are now leaving our Night Defense Position and the 64 element is staying behind to security location and equipment. At 0608hrs Bravo Company all element are in blocking position and the 84 and 88 elements starting their sweep with the RF, the 49 element had contact with the VC trying to evade negative results location BS790446. At 0640hrs the 44 and the 88 elements spotted 10 VC/NVA with packs and weapons, engaged them checking area. Gun ships on Station Checked are found 1 VC KIA, 20-30 years old, he didn’t have ID and RF said he was VC, negative weapon etc. At 0650hs, requested a priority Dust Off for 8 Vietnamese with frag wounds. Gun ships on station 1 male we sent in with wounds in the foot is a VC. The RF said they have documents that say this is a VC Dust Off completed at 0722hrs. At 0845hrs the 49 and the 88 elements picked up 4 VCS all are females ages 20-30, no ID cards little people say these women are VC. At 1005hrs the RF turned three of the VCS loose, changed their minds about VCS. At 0955hrs Bravo Company 49 element and RF fired on the two, VC/NVA evading, they said that they had weapons, but 49 didn’t see any RF fired on the two, but they got away. Leaving the Night Defense Position and moving to Day Logger at BS785427. At 1120hrs present Location Bridge south of old Church. At 1415hrs Bravo Company the little people said there was a funeral at 1400hrs, for the VC killed last night the 84 element was to check it out and capture VC etc. But the little people sprung the ambush on the funeral early and they all got away and we had negative results. At 1455hrs at grid BS779451 the 85 element took under fire 2 VC killing one he had a weapon, but the one who got away grabbed the weapon, but 85 has two packs with blue uniforms, 90mm ammo etc, will turn in when we get a chance. At 2020hrs Bravo Company while moving into our Night Defense Position site, one of our men (PFC Hans Rajcevac) slipped in a ditch and sustained a sprained back along with barbed wire cuts and possible fractured rib. Requests Dust Off: Doc Control deemed Dust Off non Urgent and will pick up man up at first light. At 2215hrs Bravo Company Late Report had to call them for info: received 10-15 rounds small arms fire from east of there Night Defense Position fired 4.2 rounds on them negative results initial information received from Red Leg people called in to confirmed information about the time, enemy grid BS798413.
Charlie Company

Delta Company

At 0730hrs Delta Company is moving to Day Logger at BS742418. At 1500hrs Delta Company 65 element has just moved out. At 2000hrs Delta Company in Night Defense Position at BS749443 with Delta Company 85 snake in position and the 44 snake in Position.
Echo Company
August 27, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 Platoon reports Defense Targets 2, Schedule Mission 15, Observe Mission 2 total expend 55 HE and 2 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0740hrs Recon Platoon is moving out of their Night Defense Position at this time. At 1815hr Recon is at present location BS825443, will be moving about a 1,000 meters to grid we sent in earlier. At 1110hrs Recon reports their location at BS810443. At 1207hrs Recon plan for day 1400hrs today at BS818447, 1630hrs today BS825437, Night defense Position at BS828438 and tomorrow BS825434, 0900hrs BS830426 and them move south to river then west and north to BS829410. At 1445hrs Recon reports their located at BS818447 and at 1950hrs Recon now in ambush location BS828438.
