Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0509hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar Target at 1950hrs 6 to 8 stationary personnel spotted at BS783496 with negative finding, and at 2350hrs 5 to 6 stationary personnel were spotted at BS843413 with 7 HE fired by the 105 artillery. At 0110hrs 4-5 stationary personnel were spotted at BS732402 with 9 HE rounds fired by 4.2 Mortar. At 0200hrs 15 to 20 personnel were spotted moving to the west toward BS727466 with 4 HE rounds fired by the Artillery 155mm.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
April 27, 1970
Alpha Company moved to their Day Logger at BS736455. Alpha Company continue to use Saturation Patrolling in their Area of Operation.
Bravo Company
April 27, 1970
Bravo Company continued their joint operation with MACV in support of the Pacification Program, in their Area of Operations.
Charlie Company
April 27, 1970
Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0710hrs Charlie Company the 05 element is moving out for security to BS765457 for mine sweep team, the 64 element has closed on LZ Liz. At 1953hrs Charlie Company reports the 44 element is at BS744431, the 45 element is location at BS760435.
Delta Company
April 27, 1970
At 0800hrs Delta Company had set up Patrol Bases and saturation patrolling. At 0925hrs the 62 patrol found what they believe to be a NVA dressed in green uniform. He was KIA about 2 weeks at grid BS748400. At 1025hrs the 61 element spotted a Vietnamese boy at BS743407, the Vietnamese boy evaded the 61 element to the northwest. Vietnamese dropped a package containing plastic and cloth that looks like pact of old poncho liner, 1 cooking port of rice, Vietnamese boy 10 to 15 years old dressed in black shorts with blue shirt. At 1300hrs the 01 element found 4 personnel digging a small hole at BS766387 all females 2 evade to the south and 2 surrender to element. The hole looked like the start of a tunnel. National Police not sure 35-40 years of age, evac to Bronco. At 1751hrs Delta Company reports moving to their Night Defense Position 01 at BS775403, Command Post at BS765376 and the 61 to BS741402. At 1945hrs Delta Company Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with severe cut on side of neck resulting from an accident with a hand flare, Name SP4 Gevaert, Dust Off completed 2000hrs.
Echo Company
April 27, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports total Fire Missions 9 for a total expended of 19 HE and 27 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0617hrs Recon Platoon the 61 and 64 element have close on the 62 location at BS790471 and by 0627hrs is moving to highway 1. At 0717hrs Recon in location at BS772458 we are ready for extraction. At 0832hrs Recon reports they have closed on LZ Liz. At 1852hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at LZ Dragoon.
