Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0925hrs 26 engineer our work location is at BS738606. At 1630hrs Helix (FAC) 32 spotted several fresh bunkers and tunnels at BS785505. At 1650hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer a total of 20 acres were cleared in the area BS734603 to BS738603 to BS764608 to BS738608 with 2 bunkers destroyed with 1 105 round and 175 round destroyed. We have 4 D7 operational and 1 D7 is deadline with a rear belly pan damaged. At 1720hrs S-5 report at BS6851 10 minutes of Chieu Hoi tape was targeted at the 38 LF and at BS7360 28,000 VIP leaflets, also 10 minutes of VIP tape time were expended at BS7165 with 10 minutes of Chieu Hoi tape was targeted at C19 LF and at BS805392 1 Med Cap which treated 71 people. At 1904hrs Brigade Convoy from Qui Nhon to Chu Lai on 27 June 1970 to arrive in I Corp and II Corp at 1000hrs and to return from Chu Lai to Qui Nhon on 28 June 1970.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1100hrs Base Defense 11th Brigade at BS825378 found 1 NVA in hedgerow, approximately 2 days old with results 1 NVA KIA.
Alpha Company
June 26, 1970
Alpha Company at 0927hrs the 73 element has closed and 93 has closed. They replaced all Mechanical Ambushes and if the locations have been changed the new locations will be called in at 0950hrs. Alpha Company 92 element found a sign made from a C-Ration box telling Vietnamese not to take cattle into the area or go into the area as its is booby trapped. The sign has a C-ration Knife pointing to an area. The Kit Carson Scout states that area is BS745405 to BS745415 to the east to include the BS7340, grid square. We will check the area real close for booby traps. Alpha Company will continue their Saturation Patrolling. At 1900hrs Alpha Company during the Red legs Operation the 21element heard seven (secondary booby trap explosions) in the area of BS749402, BS748406 and BS747403. This is the area of suspected booby trap reported earlier. Alpha Company is now in their Night Defense Position at BS741405 and will have multiple ambushes out tonight.
Bravo Company

At 0623hrs Bravo Company we request a priority Dust Off for one Vietnamese female with gunshot wound of the neck and arm. She received the wound some time last night and it is not known how she received the wounds completed at 0641hrs grid BS778445. Bravo Company dusted off one Vietnamese child with frag wounds and 1 US who hit a booby trap on the side of the junction of the Access Road and the Red Ball. Bravo Company destroyed 3 booby traps, 3 bunkers, a fighting position, and the 4 additional booby traps with 35 pounds of rice. Bravo Company also turned in one detainee to Military Intelligence.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road. At 1215hrs Charlie Company at BS796478 found 2 VC KBA where not by gun fire. At 1905hrs Charlie Company the 21 and 24 elements have closed. At 2016hrs the 95 element is in location on the Access Road from BS780435 to BS776435 with Roving Patrol.
Delta Company

Delta Company conducted Multiple Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0610hrs Delta Company the 94 element is moving to BS705625, the 95 element is moving to BS710637, the 23 element is moving to BS746655 and the 24 element is moving to BS755655. The 24, 91 and 94 elements have closed. At 1610hrs Delta Company 71 we request a routine Dust Off for 1 US with a temperature of 101 degrees. The Dust Off was completed from BS735605 at 1704hrs. At 1630hrs Delta Company the 91 patrol is moving to BS728646, the 24 element is moving to BS732647, the 21 element is moving to BS730650 and the 92 element is moving to BS720636. At 2050hrs Delta Company the 93 element is at BS725645, the 94 element is at BS724635 and the 23 element is at BS746655 and the 25 element is at BS741630 with multiply ambushes out.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 7 for a total expended of 19 HE and 18 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0505hrs Recon Platoon at BS729451 observed 5 NVA and engaged with results 1 NVA KIA and 1 AK-47 CIA. Recon believed the KIA to be a Officer also CIA 1 .45 pistol with Documents and 14 packs CIA also have 1 Detainee evac to LZ Bronco. At 2202hrs Recon the 21 element is at BS754610, the 22 element is at BS754605, the 23 element is at BS753596, the 24 element is at BS752588 and the 25 element is at BS768583. At 2305hrs the 23 element had a mechanical ambush go off to their east at BS755596, we checked the area and found 2 VC KIA, age 25 wearing black tops and black bottoms, we also found some food, we will check the area again at first light for further findings.
