Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0050hrs LZ Liz Access Road, Bunker #1 on Access road had a trip flare ignite 100 meters to the northeast vicinity BS760437. Also at this time they received 2 to 3 rounds of AK47 fire and engaged the area with small arms fire. 81mm Illumination was fired with negative sightings will search at 1st light, swept with negative findings. At 0730hrs LATE SPOT 3-4 ARVN on 251800hrs vicinity BS927130, while on a Search and Clear mission spotted 1 female evading to the west, results were 1 female VC KIA and 1 hammock and documents CIA, Documents were sent to Bronco. At 0732hrs LZ Liz Access Road has been mine swept. At 0750hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 26 of 174 Aviation is on Station. At 0830hrs 1-20 Infantry Snowcap 816 is on station, is the AMC bird for today’s Combat Assault. At 0945hrs Combat Assault of Alpha Company (-) and Charlie Company (-) first PZ LZ Liz Access Road at 0855hrs and first Alpha LZ at BS779343 and Last LZ Charlie LZ Liz Access Road 0931hrs and Combat Assault completed. At 1216hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Med Cap is completed and returning to LZ Liz from treating a total of 523 Vietnamese, at vicinity BS768531. At 1410hrs Primo 2 of 11 Brigade Aviation is on station and at 1555hrs broke station. At 1930hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Field Strength: Alpha 47, Bravo 61, Delta 59, Echo 14 and HHC 10. At 1938hrs PF 153 at vicinity BS720564 PF received sniper fire resulting in 1 PF WIA, Time of event 0700hrs. At 1938hrs PF at 0800hrs vicinity BS720564 PF stepped on a mine resulting in 1 PF WIA. At 2017hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 2, Bravo 2 and Delta 2 for a total of 6 out. At 2325hrs RF 180 at 1800hrs vicinity BS846317, 1 RF hit a mine resulting in 1 RF WIA, Dust Off completed at 2230hrs Vietnamese Air Force 2200hrs. At 2327hrs MACV Duc Pho at 262030hrs vicinity BS886288 Assistant Village Chief of Dien Thuong was shot and killed by VC, also 1 carbine was lost in action, Dust Off completed at 2335hrs. At 2355hrs LZ Liz Charlie Company LT Satler inspected bunkers 15, 16, 17, 1, 2 and 3 and LT Nelson inspected bunkers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 all were satisfactory. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road. At 0030hrs Alpha Company LZ Liz Access Road bunker #1 on Access Road had a trip flare ignite 100 meters to the northeast vicinity BS760437. Also at this time they received 2-3 rounds of AK 47 fire and engaged the area with small arms fire, 81mm illumination, with negative sighting, will search at 1st light. At 0055hrs had another trip ignite, engaged again, sweep with negative finding. At 0945hrs Alpha and Charlie Companies conducts a Combat Assault 1st PZ 0855hrs and Last LZ at 0931hrs. Alpha Company is located at BS779343 and moving out on a Search and Clear operation. At 1946hrs, Alpha Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon Night Defense Position at BS776342 with 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1900hrs Bravo Company has a Field Strength of 61. At 1955hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon is moving to BS699457 and 1st Platoon with Command Post is at BS711473 with 2 Mechanical Ambushes out.
Charlie Company

Charlie and Alpha Companies conducts a Combat Assault 1st PZ at 0855hrs and last LZ at 0925hrs. Charlie company is on LZ Liz and taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2355hrs LZ Liz Charlie Company LT Satler inspected bunkers 15, 16, 17, 1, 2 and 3 and LT Nelson inspected bunkers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 all were satisfactory. SGT Roy G. Otis was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0630hrs Delta Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon is moving to Patrol Base at BS767352. At 0720hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol Base has changed to BS762354. At 0826hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post has linked up with 1st Platoon at BS762354. At 1310hrs Delta Company when moving to their Patrol Base, Line # E0556 slipped on a rock and fell on his arm, believes he sprained it, was back hauled on re supply bird, vicinity BS762353. Delta Company field strength is at 59. At 1640hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol is at checkpoint 1 vicinity BS760355. At 1750hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon Patrol is at checkpoint 2, vicinity BS762354. At 2010hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Night Defense Position at BS757352 and Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS762353 with 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Echo Company

Echo Company Headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0607hrs Recon is moving to LZ Liz at this time and closed on LZ Liz at 0645hrs.
