Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1345hrs The 26 Engineer Day Logger is at BS754637. At 2200hrs Brigade reports Infra-red sighting at BS715449 with 1 emission about 2150hrs. Legend: 24-29 1st Platoon, 34-39 2nd Platoon 54-59 3rd Platoon and 20 is Commanding Officer.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
July 26, 1970
At 0640hrs Alpha Company the 34 element is moving to link up with the engineers. Alpha Company is using some patrol and Day Ambushes today. At 0920hrs Alpha Company the 26 and 27 elements have closed on BS724600 and the 27 element will have and ambush going to BS729601 and is moving out at this time. At 1840hrs Alpha Company the 56 element received sniper fire from BS735615 from approximately 1 to 2 enemies with a clearance to fire 81mm mortar at 1850hrs. The Alpha 57 Element while maneuvering to help the 56 element received sniper fire at 800 meters to the north. US snipers are trying to locate the enemy. The Alpha 56 and 57 elements closed taking sniper fire from the north to southeast at 800 meters. At 2011hrs Alpha Company the 56 element took about 125-150 rounds of sniper rounds from BS735615 with the friendly location at BS729618, we fired 81 mortars on the area and returned small arms. The 14 element moved into the area and found 1 KIA by small arms fire will check again in the morning. At 2135hrs Alpha Company 54, 14 and 20 elements in their Night Defense Position at BS724594 with multiple ambushes tonight.
Bravo Company
July 26, 1970
Bravo Company continued their joint Operations with PF and RF units on their Hamlet Pacification and security of Highway 1. Bravo Company used multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 0735hrs Bravo Company information on the booby trap, last night by Bravo Company 54. It was a hand frag, pressure release set to go off so as to get the man behind the person who trip it was destroyed by claymores, the Vietnamese found and destroyed this booby trap. At 1855hrs Bravo Company the 56 element has closed on BS712584. At 1943hrs Bravo Company the 56 element has closed on BS712584 and the 68 element is at BS725633.
Charlie Company
July 26, 1970
At 0600hrs Charlie Company reports the 57 element is moved toward BS743565, the 37 element is moving to BS743558 and the 38 element is moving to BS743558 and the 38 element is moving out (with the 37 element). At 0842hrs Charlie Company 34 element found a 155mm Artillery round at BS743554 blown in place. At 0845hrs Charlie Company picked up one female detainee age 25-30, grid BS744555 evac to Military Intelligence. At 0830hrs we detained at BS721568, 7 military age (16-40) females, one ad an ID but Vietnamese says she is VC and Chieu Hoi with Charlie Company says they are all VC will tag and evac to Military Intelligence with the 1 male pick up at BS736568. At 1325hrs Charlie Company picked up another detainee at BS737579 and Kit Carson Scout said VC to Military Intelligence. At 1800hrs a summary of Charlie Company operations turned in to Military Intelligence a total 14 detainee, 500 pounds of rice buried in the front of hootch extracted, along with 1 M26 grenade, 1 US compass, and 1 green uniform. At 2005hrs Charlie Company the 24 element is moving to the Night Defense Position at BS740577, the 34 element is moving to BS760556 and the 26 element has closed on the 24 element location at BS731577.
Delta Company
July 26, 1970
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1215hrs Delta Company 56 element took sniper fire 25-30 rounds of AK-47 fire from BS779459 at 74-100 meters to the north. They ran across the Red Ball didn’t engage due to proximity of the Ville. We got one female detainee, she had no ID and dressed in black and white, age 28-30, also one male detainee, age 50 and healthy, wearing black pants and white shirt. He was with the female who we also detained. We also found 5 hootches, one had a fire burning, said they went to Mo Duc to get food for 2 VC, the VC then left. We are holding detainee for extraction tomorrow to Military Intelligence at grid BS753567. At 2353hrs Delta Company the 56 element has closed on LZ Liz.
Echo Company
July 26, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports we had no expenditures. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0740hrs Primo 3 has spotted a weapon and satchel charges at grid BS805464, a Combat Assault was called with a set of gun ships with the 1st Lift at 0800hrs Recon Platoon. The Recon Platoon reports results was 1 AK47 with full magazines, 2 pistol belts, and 1 US Fag grenade CIA and 2 KIA confirmed from contact of Primo the night of 25 July 1970. At 1000hrs Recon Platoon 1st PZ for Recon was at 0947hrs and 2nd PZ was at 1001hrs with the 1st LZ at 0959hrs and 2nd LZ at 1008hrs both where cold, PZ LZ Liz and LZ at BS792470. At 1215hrs Recon we have 1 detainee, a female age 18, wearing black bottoms and blue top. She had no ID was evading to the east at BS793469. The Kit Carson Scout says she is a VC and will evac her to Military Intelligence. They also found 2 booby traps, 1.5 pounds of Petna with nails and a smoke grenade-firing device and we also found 2 Punji pits. At 1320hrs Recon the VC captured by Recon Platoon and the PRU from Duc Pho, is a hamlet guerilla. She said 15 days ago there were 30 NVA/VC who stayed in the hamlet for 8 days (NFI). She is from An Thoch (H), PHO Loi (V), Duc Pho (P), She was processed by MACV Duc Pho.
