Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0320hrs Radar sighted 7 to 8 stationary personnel at grid BS776500, we engaged the target with 12 HE of 155 artillery. At 0655hrs 137th Engineer we request security for paving in the area of Bridge 402U. The end of the paving will be north of the Bridge, ½ mile south of the Ville outside of LZ Max and our ETA will be at 0800hrs today. At 0803hrs 1-20 Infantry the Battalion Commander left LZ Liz on a Visual Recon and returned at 0900hrs. At 1044hrs the Brigade Commander arrived at LZ Liz was briefed and left at 1110hrs. At 1300hrs 1-20 Infantry the Battalion Commander left LZ Liz for Delta Company and returned at 1535hrs. At 1550hrs Warlord Lead is on station, we are checking out the area north to the 36 grid line, south to the 33 grid line, east to the 77 grid line and west to the 74 grid line. At 1915hrs Brigade we will have a defoliate mission over LZ Liz on 270720 February 1970. At 1910hrs Brigade we will have a firefly at 2100hrs from LZ Bronco to BS8439 and follow the river northwest to the 46 grid line and then follow northwest to the 46 grid line. Then follow the river southwest to the 73 grid line and then follow the 73 grid south to the river. At the 78 grid line we will go south to the lake to 36 grid to the river at BS8336 grid square. Then we will go northeast along the river to 39 grid line and around the mountain to the northeast in the vicinity to the northwest along the stream to the 42 grid line. It was disapproved as requested and modified to follow the railroad berm to grid BS758489 south to BS789385 and south along the river to the lake at BS7836 and BS7835. At 1928hrs S-2 we have intelligence that there are 24 guerillas and 1 NVA squad at grid BS814405 and BS809407. They may be security and guides for the laborers who are being taken to the mountains. At 1935hrs Radar sighted 4 to 5 stationary personnel at grid BS766487, we fired 8 HE 155 artillery and we unknown results.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
January 26, 1970
At 0814hrs Alpha Company all snakes have closed and the 23 element checked grid BS732462 with negative results, and the day Logger is at BS744438. At 0920hrs Alpha Company reports Dolphin 29 Dust Off one Vietnamese baby with infection to the face and head, Dust Off complete at 0917hrs grid BS744438. At 0950hrs Alpha Company we request a Routine Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese child with a skin disease and needs medical attention. Dust Off completed at 1002hrs at grid BS763531. At 1410hrs Alpha Company 76 element has been extracted PZ time 1410hrs at grid BS763531 and last LZ 1505hrs at BS744438. At 1635hrs Alpha Company the 22 snake is moving to BS709434, 23 to BS715436, 24 to BS705433, 73 at BS725454, the 72 at BS720450, 33 at BS725478, the 32 at BS728470 and the 34 snake at BS7284683 and have closed by 1950hrs.
Bravo Company

At 0623hrs Bravo Company the 76 closed on BS789417, the 24 element on BS783433 and 37 is closing on BS778445. At 0650hrs Bravo Company the 72 element is moving (sweeping) toward the 26, 52 and 28 elements blocking position. At 0650hrs Bravo Company 1st PZ at 0654hrs Combat Assault to LZ BS776412, BS775408 and BS779406 to set up blocking position. At 0747hrs Bravo Company the sweep and blocking forces have linked up with negative finding, we will sweep to the south. At 0825hrs Bravo Company 1 of the Vietnamese with the 76 element says he knows where there are 5 VC and five weapons, he said the VC wanted to Chieu Hoi, we are checking out grid BS775424 and reports at 0928hrs had negative finding of the Chieu Hoi at grid BS775424. At 1530hrs Bravo Company the security Chief of the Command Post (BS783433) received word that at grid BS787438 there was a 37 year old VC who wanted to Chieu Hoi, he was from C 219, we will check out the area in the morning. After checking the area we found him dead: suspected assassination by fellow VC in C 219. At 1625hrs Bravo Company additional to the plans include the 22 element at BS781448 and the 23 at BS788434, both at 1945hrs. At 1655hrs Bravo Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 VC soldier hit by a jeep, he is unconscious at this time. He was from the 147 RF Platoon completed 1700hrs grid BS789417. At 1959hrs Bravo Company reports in the Combat Assault to BS787444, the 1st LZ, 1810hrs Last LZ 1835hrs, we pick up only 1 detainee otherwise a negative result on Combat Assault of the VC/NVA who were at that location but they evaded shortly before the Combat Assault. We picked up 1 Vietnamese detainee, about 35 years of age and the PF interrogated him with negative results. At 2100hrs Bravo Company 34 is at BS768448 and the 27 element is at BS787438. At 2110hrs Bravo Company late report on the Urgent Dust Off at grid BS778445 at 1820hrs. The baby was hit by a truck (3/4 ton) from LZ Bronco. It happened 500 meters south of the Twin Ville, the baby was brought to the Command Post by the truck driver. The baby was 9 years old from Pho Hung Village.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is on LZ Liz and taken over the
Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0815hrs Charlie 26 and 24 elements have closed
on LZ Liz. At 1525hrs Charlie Company SRRP is moving to BS768405. At 1701hrs
Charlie Company the 22 element stopped at grid BS768412 and will move to
position on time and at 1848hrs reports in position at BS776403. At 1945hrs
Charlie Company the 35 snake is at 773443 and the 76 element, snake is at
BS768438. At 2010hrs Charlie Company reports the Bravo Company 24 clearing
patrol is moving toward the Charlie 76 snake, location, we informed the Charlie
Company Command Post at 2047hrs.
Delta Company
January 26, 1970
At 0716hrs Delta Company all snakes have closed on their locations at BS753402 (Delta Company -), BS732405 (22 element) and the 32 elements on BS750411. At 0751hrs Delta Company the 12, 52, 72 and Delta Company (-) are moving to BS755397. At 1040hrs Delta Company all elements are at grid BS755374. At 1620hrs Delta Company, War Lord lead reports spotted some old bunkers being rebuilt at grid BS744371 and Delta Company reports the 72 and 32 elements moving to check the area. Warlord Lead got 1 VC/NVA at grid BS705342. At 1720hrs Delta Company we will search the area in which the Battalion Commander recommended and we found 1 freshly dug grave (last 24 hours) with 1 Vietnamese in it, at grid BS744371. At 1825hrs Delta Company we are now moving to our Night Defense Position at BS751373. At 1855hrs Delta Company our Night Defense Position is at BS755376. At 1910hrs Delta Company the 33 snake is moving to BS745371 and the 34 snake is moving to BS752366. At 1955hrs Delta Company all our snakes have moved out with the 23 at BS745386, the 24 at BS746379, the 33 to BS745371, the 34 to BS752366, the 73 to BS759365 and the 74 to BS766363 and closed at 2130hrs. At 2105hrs Radar sighted 8 to 10 personnel moving east with 1 vehicle at grid BS772492, we engaged the target with 8 HE and 2 firecracker rounds of Artillery 155mm and 30 HE of 105 Artillery.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0610hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 3, Observed Mission 1 and Defense Target 4 for a total expended of 11 HE, 4 WP and 19 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0545hrs Recon Platoon we are returning to LZ Liz at this time and closed on Liz at 0645hrs. At 1915hrs Recon we are leaving LZ Liz for checkpoint 1 at BS748417. At 1740hrs Recon Platoon we are at checkpoint 2 at BS747407.
