Headquarters and Headquarter Company
January 26, 1969

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1105hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz 1 Vietnamese child 5 years old with badly cut foot Dust Off with Command and Control Helicopter at 1105hrs foot believed cut by motor bike. At 1310hrs E Troop 1-1 Calvary at BS565769 4 US WHA APC hit pressure device mine, Dust Off completed at 1310hrs Tommy F. Smith Larry D. Lanbert, Charles H Walkins Jr, and Moses treated in field. At 2015hrs LZ Liz Bravo Company Dust Off is completed at 2043hrs and request check fire for LZ Bronco.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0500hrs E Troop at BS843334, 3 vehicles (2 jeeps, 2 ½ ton heading north received sniper fire from 200 meters north of bridge 107 vehicle and APC on Bridge set fire. Vietnamese female were wounded and driven by jeep to LZ Thunder where evac to LZ Bronco. At 0840hrs Alpha Company 19th Engineer found 2 piles of rock in road blew both pikes found flare case under one continued mission. At 0940hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer, at 0810hrs vicinity BS717595, BS727598 received 7 rounds small arms sniper fire negative casualties or damage.

 

Alpha Company
January 26, 1969

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon. At 1240hrs Alpha Company at BS692512 spotted 2 VC carrying heavy equipment, called in Artillery with negative assessment.

 

Bravo Company
January 26, 1969

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1055hrs Bravo Company at LZ Liz 1 Vietnamese child 5 years with badly cut foot Dust Off with Command and Control Helicopter at 1105hrs foot believed cut by motor bike. At 1600hrs Bravo 26 requested a Routine Dust Off for an US with temp of 104, stomach camps Dust Off completed at 1535hrs (Hanners, Phillip). At 2015hrs Bravo Company reports at BS758424, had 1 US Non Battle Casualty while getting trip flare at ambush became a casualty and Dust Off completed at 2043hrs and the Ambush returned to LZ Liz as a result.

 

Charlie Company
January 26, 1969

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder and secure the Bridges. (LATE REPORT) Charlie Company at BS843334 at 1580hrs on 25 January 1969 request Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese women shot in hand. APC on bridge received sniper fire, 2 1½ ton trucks and 1 2½ ton tucks crossing bridge also received sniper fire and trucks returned fire. Short time later a Vietnamese female came to truck with gunshot in hand and requested aid.

 

Delta Company
January 26, 1969

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 1800hrs Delta Company at BS923263 dug up 3 graves, 1 male KIA by artillery and also 1 in casket along with 3 VC KIA. At 1600hrs 1-20 Infantry request Dust Off for US with temp of 104 and stomach camps Dust Off completed at 1535hrs (Hanner, Phillip D). At 2000hrs Delta Company at BS904196, received small arms fire and M-79 fire from east, called artillery will move to new location. Received 4 round small arms and 4 rounds of M-79 negative casualties or damage. Delta Company changed their ambush to BS912196. PFC Phillip D. Hanners was attached to 312th evac Hospital.

 

Echo Company
January 26, 1969

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their LZ Liz Security Mission with SRRP locations at BS705510, BS888223 and BS866292.
