Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0255hrs Nighthawk and Shark 6 on station, they spotted 6 personnel evading west out of a hootch to a tree line. They engaged the personnel resulting in 3 VC KIA, one was wearing a black shirt and shorts, 2 wearing white shires and black shorts, at grid BS734431. They were believed to be carrying weapons, but we spotted no weapons, west of tree line Nighthawk received 20 to 30 rounds of AK 47 fire with negative casualties or damage and they had direct hit on a bunker with unknown results, they said there was 1 or 2 more hootches or bunkers in the area and we are breaking station at this time. At 0410hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar at 1910hrs sighted 10 to 15 personnel moving west at BS750465 with negative clearance and at 1920hrs 30 personnel were spotted moving northeast at BS756463 with negative clearance. At 1930hrs sighted 8 to 10 stationary personnel were spotted at BS794463 and engaged with 14 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 2006hrs 10 to 15 personnel were sighted moving east at grid BS805456 and engaged with 14 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm and at 2030hrs 5 to 6 stationary personnel were spotted at BS776410 and engaged with 22 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar. At 2030hrs 8 to 10 person were spotted moving northwest at grid BS734461 and engaged with 14 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar. At 2220hrs 8 to 10 personnel were spotted moving west at BS707428 and engaged with 20 HE rounds of Artillery 155mm and at 0020hrs 10 to 15 personnel were spotted moving west at BS741443 and engaged with 15 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar. At 1-20 Infantry to Recon have 3 ambushes along the river from BS815451 to BS803443, tomorrow secure a PZ at BS827451 by 0700hrs for retraining. At 0830hrs 1-20 infantry to Alpha Company have 3 ambushes tonight at BS754390, BS750365 and BS775355. Your Night Defense Position will be in the vicinity of BS7637, have separate platoons at Night Defense Position. Tomorrow search the following boxes 1 BS7539, BS7639, BS7637, and BS7537, Box 2 BS7537, BS7737, BS7736 and BS7536, and Box 3 BS7737, BS7837, BS7835 and BS7735, give checkpoints. At 1100hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC to Warlord Recon in the area east of highway 1 in our Area of Operation, we have an element at BS832427, Warlord is on station at 1120hrs. At 1125hrs Warlord snatched 2 VCS, both males, at BS802441, 1 is 40 and the other is 41 and both have ID. One was wearing black pajamas and as well as the other one. At 1202hrs Warlord we picked up 2 males at BS79461 approximately 35 years of age, 1 of which was wearing black shorts and a blue shirt and the other maroon shorts and a white shirt. At 1410hrs the Battalion Commander has left LZ Liz for LZ Bronco and later departed to the 1-20 Infantry (Area of Operation). At 1426hrs 1-20 Infantry Commander to Recon have your snakes in the same location as last night grids BS8340 and BS8440. At 1535hrs 1-20 infantry all bunkers in satisfactory condition don’t every day will record on changes.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 26, 1970
At 0708hrs Alpha Company requests an Urgent Dust Off for two Vietnamese children with frag wounds to the head and lower portions of the body. The PRU threw a hand frag into the bunker where they where, (Grid BS747436) complete at 0725hrs. Alpha Company 21 element is patrolling area around LZ Liz. At 0830hrs 1-20 Infantry to Alpha Company have 3 ambushes tonight at BS754390, BS750365, and BS775355. Your Night Defense Position will be in the vicinity of BS7637, have separate platoon at Night Defense Position. Tomorrow search the following boxes: Box 1. BS7539, BS7639, BS7637, and BS7537- Box 2.BS7537, BS7737, BS7736, BS7536 - Box 3 BS7737, BS7837, BS7835 and BS7735. Alpha Company the 61 element found 1 tunnel approximately 10’ long with two tunnels branching out to the right and left at grid BS773388 and we destroyed the tunnel. At 1055hrs the 04 element is in location for the security of the TMF team at BS747397. At 1544hrs Alpha Company we are moving into our Night Defense Position at BS763371. At 1610hrs Alpha Company we need a Urgent Dust Off for one US with Heat exhaustion from BS764373 completed at 1624hrs.
Bravo Company

At 0815hrs Bravo Company while the Vietnamese were returning from their snake location they found a ammo can with two complete M60 bolts and parts of a gas cylinder plug at grid BS783448. Bravo Company the 05 element and the 64 element are moving to BS803417 and BS773473 respectively. At 0942hrs Bravo Company the 05 element has closed and left a PF stay behind at BS798415. At 1245hrs the PF from the 169 compound, while moving out on their snake to the north spotted 1 VC with a AK 47, the PF engaged the VC who evaded to the east at BS792425, he was dressed in a green uniform with a bush hat. Bravo Company continued their multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0310hrs Charlie Company the 61 element is moving to their block fore at BS745437, BS748443 and BS754440. At 0515hrs Charlie Company the 61 element is location and roving at BS645437, BS748443 and BS754440. At 0555hrs Charlie Company the 21 element is 100 to 150 meters south of their objective and will move out at daybreak. At 0650hrs Charlie Company the 21 element has started their sweep toward the 61element block. At 0900hrs Charlie Company 24 element captured 2 VC males age 20 to 25 at grid BS738458 one had an ID. At 0945hrs Charlie Company 24 element with 2 Chan Hoi found one submachine gun (Chinese) and 2 K 44 rifles hidden bunker at BS747436. At 1010hrs Charlie Company reports all snakes have closed on Liz from the access road. At 1137hrs Charlie Company at grid BS752451 the 24 element found 2 ammo cans, one with documents, letters and some type of money and one with M16 magazines and AK 47 rounds. At 1145hrs Charlie Company at grid BS734431 the 61 element found one VC female KIA, approximately 60 years of age who was found under some grass in a hootch. She was hit in the head by who looked like a 50 cal round. At 1237hrs the 61 element is at closed on LZ LIZ. At 2210hrs the Charlie Company 05 element are roving along the access road. At 1237hrs Charlie Company 61 elements has closed on LZ Liz. At 1710hrs Charlie Company reports 34 has closed on LZ Liz and at 1800hrs 05 is moving to BS740457. At 2210hrs Charlie Company the 05 element is at BS740457 and the 63 element and sub elements are roving along the access road.

Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0615hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 3, Observed Missions 3 for a total expended of 57 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0730hrs Recon Platoon reports all snakes have closed and are moving out on their Search and Clear operation for today. The Recon Platoon reports their locations 21 element to BS826430, the 32 element to BS834430 and 08 to BS828433. At 0830hrs Recon the 08 element found 1 very well camouflaged hootch with 2 sleeping positions and freshly cooked rice for about 4 people, the hootch was destroyed. At 1-20 Infantry to Recon have 3 ambushes along the river from BS815451 to BS803443, tomorrow secure a PZ at BS827451 by 0700hrs for retraining. At 0815hrs Recon all elements have linked up and will clover leaf patrols from grid BS828427. At 0945hrs Recon Platoon the 22 snake is at BS811442, the 08 snake is at BS814438 and the 23 snake is at BS815432. At 1055hrs Recon Platoon all patrols have closed and are moving to the west for re supply and Day Logger position. At 1130hrs Recon Platoon our present location and re supply and Day logger position is at BS820425. At 1426hrs 1-20 Infantry Commander to Recon have your snakes in the same location as last night grids BS8340 and BS8440. At 1950hrs Recon Platoon the 21 element is location at BS839408, the 22 element is at BS847405 and the 23 is at BS836402.
