Headquarters and Headquarter Company
February 26, 1969

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. Delta Company is back under control of 1-20 Infantry. At 1255hrs LZ Bronco received 3 rounds of 14mm rockets confirmed by EOD negative damage and negative casualties. At 0950hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry at 0845hrs vicinity BS840364 received small arms fire and M-79 fire, result 1 US WIA Dust Off completed at 0920hrs and Dust Off for man who shot himself in foot completed at 0935hrs. Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry 49 at BS800370, 44 at BS794379, 74 at BS764404 and 14 at BS740364 with Bravo Company 3-1 Infantry is located at LZ Bronco. Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry at 1120hrs vicinity BS836365 reports the Dust Off for 1 US WIA with gunshot wound in arm completed at 1145hrs to LZ Bronco. Charlie Company 19th at 1115hrs vicinity BS715245 ambush element was returning from mine sweep to Checkpoint 7 was ambush by M-79 and small arms fire from west side of road, return fire and called for support 2 APC and Gun Ships. At 1305hrs 1-20 Infantry reports LZ Liz at 1300hrs received 1 RPG round negative casualties. At 1855hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Military Intelligence Mo Duc at 1725hrs 100 to 150 VC at BS713484 and BS716480 objective Highway 1 next week also may harass LZ Liz next couple of days also 50 NVA moving north to Quang Nagi dispersing south and west. At 2045hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry engaged 5 VC with packs and weapons wearing helmets with negative results.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1910hrs Psyop team was ambushed at BS923344 by approximately 10 people 6 were in brown uniforms with AK 47. Results from small arms fire and automatic weapons fire and M-79 fire jeep took shrapnel ¾ was not hit Psyop ran the ambush, I Kit Carson Scout was wounded minor, most of the enemy on west side of the road and machinegun on east side of road. At LZ Bronco at BS813421 received 5 rounds 82mm mortar and possible RR rounds, fired artillery and gun ships on station along with spooky, negative casualties or damage.

 

Alpha Company
February 26, 1969

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown with 44 on Bridge 94 and 45 on Bridge 95. At 2230hrs Alpha Company reports the 44 and 45 elements received automatic weapons fire, negative casualties and return fire with unknown results. SP4 Alfred Schunk at 312th Evac with GSW Right jaw with facial lacerations.

 

Bravo Company
February 26, 1969

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0300hrs Bravo Company at BS771461 received sniper fire from the east, 1 RPG from east, 2 RPG rounds from the west, called in artillery with negative results. At 1300hrs LZ Liz received 1 RPG round with negative casualties. At 1430hrs Bravo Company at BS754435 found 2 dud hand grenades, and destroyed in place and at 1430hrs Bravo at BS754435 found 20 foot of time fuse, 10 foot of claymore wire, 1 PRC battery, destroyed all in place.

 

Charlie Company
February 26, 1969

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder.

 

Delta Company
February 26, 1969

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dragon and returned to 1-20 Infantry control. At 1240hrs Delta Company 74 and Command Post is located at BS725536. At 1430hrs Delta Company Closed on LZ Dragon. At 1730hrs at BS713553 PF walk up to gate at LZ Dragon and stated that a Vietnamese civilian had stated that there were about 100 VC located at BS713553 moving south southeast 1-20 Infantry conduct a Visual Recon of area.

 

Echo Company
February 26, 1969

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
