Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0700hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar Target for 25-26 April 1971 at 2015hrs 1-5 stationary personnel were spotted at BS844392 the Artillery 155 fired 8 HE Rounds and at 2135hrs 8 to 10 personnel were sighted moving to the southeast at BS787503 the Artillery 155 fired 14 HE rounds. At 0530hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were spotted at BS731455 with negative findings. At 0750hrs 1-20 Request Area of Operation extension from BS762480 northwest along highway 1 to BS753500 east to BS806500 from DATE/TIME 261500 to 270900hrs purpose for combat operations by Recon Platoon in reaction to Radar sightings, Brigade approved by CPT Shay at 0810hrs. At 1345hrs Helix 36 is putting in Air Strike at BS767365 and BS765356. At 1555hrs Brigade to 1-20 Infantry Zippo lighters US made that have been passed out through out Vietnam have detonated when first lighter, detain all personnel that try to sell or give away Zippo lighters.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
April 26, 1970
Alpha Company will run a Cordon and Search first thing this morning with negative finding. At 0831hrs the 01 element has 1 male detainees at BS732444 (with Buddhist ID Card) wearing white shirt, purple pants, has pack strap marks on back and shoulders. VCS was tying to get some rice off a Papa An in the Ville where 01 element is in Day Logger and we will evac to LIZ. At 1318hrs Alpha Company Routine Dust Off at BS745456, for one US Temp of 105 and possible malaria Name SGT Hupp Dust Off complete 1328hrs. Brigade: Zippo lighters US made that have been passed out through out Vietnamese have detonated when first lighter. Detain all personnel that try to sell or give away Zippo Lighters at 1740hrs Alpha company Command Post in Night Defense Position at BS752451, the 31 element moving to Night Defense Position at BS736455, 61 at BS746465, and 01 Night Defense Position at BS726444.
Bravo Company
April 26, 1970
At 1740hrs Bravo Company the 06 element made contact with 4 VC with weapons at BS791436 VC were eating when the 06 element opened fire at 20 meters. The 06 element received return small arms fire from VC called in 81mm and Artillery, and VC evaded to the north, with checking area found several blood trails. The 06 element CIA 1 Carbine M-2, 1 bush hats, 2 Pistol belts with one with ammo pouch, 1 M-26 frag, several M-16 and carbine magazines, 1 blue uniform, some tobacco, documents. (4" thick had a map of 65 element locations.)
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0656hrs Charlie Company reports the 43 element has closed on to LZ Liz, call sign for mine sweep is 43. At 2037hrs Charlie Company reports all snakes in location the 65 element is at BS745420, the 64 element is at BS760435 to BS776439 roving patrol.
Delta Company
April 26, 1970
At 0745hrs Delta Company all elements move to Day Logger and will use multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation by set up multiple Day Ambush and Night Defense Position. Location at 0745hrs 01 at BS786687, the 61 is at BS753397 and the 65, 81 and 41 is at BS764397. Delta Company had each platoon put one snake out.
Echo Company
April 26, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports total Fire Missions 8 for a total expended of 10 HE and 24 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0750hrs Recon reports their location 61 and 64 linked up at BS808468 and the 64 element will closed shortly, will be security for the EDOC team. At 1011hrs Recon has 2 female detainees, aged 30-35, at grid BS791472 negative ID, they were dressed in black, will evac to rear. At 1106hrs Recon the 62 element is their Day Logger at BS791472, the 61 element in Day Logger at BS804486 and the 64 element in Day logger at BS792486. At 1925hrs Recon the 61 element is moving to BS792492 the 62 element moving to BS790471 with the 64 element moving to BS792490.
