Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. Command and Control Helicopter made the Dust Off at 1425hrs. Division Summary with increasing contact reported, Americal and 2 ARVN Division units continued Recon in Force and Search and Pacification spot operation within their combined TAOR. Operations continue to be directed against element of 2 and 3 NVA Divisions with VC ML and LP units (During the 1969 Acceleration Pacification Program).
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company
October 25, 1969
Charlie Company working with Alpha Company today Security Mission for Clearing Operation. Today’s operation is complete and all equipment closed on our position. At 1816hrs Battalion message to Alpha and Charlie Companies Fire control lines and boundaries will be grids BS801468 and east to BS813463. The trail running west to east will is the fire control line and bounds, north of the line belongs to Alpha Company and south of the line that is Charlie Company.
Bravo Company

At 0620hrs Bravo Company our 77 element informed us that the Vietnamese have 1 VCS at grid BS777447. They have no more information but we will relay any information as they receive it. The 93 element is moving out to Bravo Company 13 element location to aid in bamboo cutting. Also the Vietnamese are taking car of the VCS so he doesn’t need to pick up. Bravo Company the Ranger element will link up with the 76 element at BS774445, then we will sweep to BS776452, also we will have 5 Vietnamese from the 216 RF Platoon. At 1330hrs Contact report the Ranger at grid BS765450 on west side of the Red Ball, requested Dust Off for 2 US with frags Harvey frag in the chest (left side) and Kamio has a slight frag of the foot. Gun Ships scrambled, we have 1 VC KIA who was in a tunnel we blew the tunnel and VC killed 18 to 20, no weapon, bush hat, M-2 magazine, bottle of insect repellent. Command and Control Helicopter made the Dust Off at 1425hrs. At 2034hrs Bravo Company and ARVN at BS779408 and enemy at BS773411, VC had loud speaker at above grid, trying to ARVN to Chieu Hoi, engaged area with Artillery with unknown results. VC broadcast mainly toward 1 ARVN he was married to a female VC, she had stepped on a mine, also the broadcast was toward US Troops to Chieu Hoi. At 2250hrs Bravo Company Urgent Dust Off requested for one VC possible with cholera, weak pulse and craps in the stomach pick up site BS789417, completed at 2332hrs. I believe the 2 WIA was SP4 Patrick T. Harvey and SP4 James H. Kamio Jr.
Charlie Company

At 0630hrs Charlie Company our present location is BS804488, we are also in position to accept PRU providing security for the Engineers and their operation. At 1048hrs Charlie Company we have 1 VCS evading the clearing operation and the result is 1 VC KIA.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Echo Company
October 25, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0730hrs Recon Platoon conducts Combat Assault for Security of road paving: 1st PZ 0713hrs and last LZ at 0726hrs. At 1800hrs Recon Platoon has closed on LZ Liz.
