Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0002hrs LATE SPOT Time of event 2245hrs Duc Pho received 3 82mm, mortar rounds RF Unit 174 at 2315hrs same unit received 5 82mm mortar rounds. At 2125hrs at grid BS789434, element form Duc Pho made contact with unknown size VC enemy force: results 3 civilians and PF WIA. At 0031hrs LZ Liz Bunker is inspected by LT Davis and found satisfactory, Bunker 8 inspected by LT De Camillio and found satisfactory. At 0440hrs LZ Liz Bunkers 5, 6, 7 and 8 inspected and found all satisfactory. At 0506hrs Saber 40 is on station to work Box # 69, Broke station at 0530hrs with negative findings. At 0825hrs LZ Liz Access Road is now open. At 1730hrs PF 185 ran into ambush at BS 807568 results is 1 VC KIA. At 1844hrs Dolphin 22 has broken station. At 2000hrs North OP spotted 20 to 30 personnel with packs and weapons with starlight at BS747435 and lost target 2055hrs. At 2040hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 11, Bravo 6, Charlie 4, and Recon 0 for a total of 21 out. At 2110hrs Saber Black is on station for Box 63 and 69 broke station at 2200hrs with negative findings. At 2121hrs Time of event 1940hrs PF 182 received 2 rounds of 60mm mortar or M-79 rounds from grid BS834355 with negative friendly casualties and unknown enemy casualties. At 2225hrs LZ Liz Bunkers #6, 7, 8, and 9 inspected all satisfactory, Bunker 7 only had 1 man on guard and did not know password, Bunker 8 only 1 man on guard and did not know pass word. At 2231hrs Hill at grid BS841304 PR units 169 and 103 received 15 round B 40 rockets also AK47 fire, returned fire with small arms fire and 20 rounds HE Artillery 105mm with negative friendly casualties and negative enemy casualties. At 2250hrs LT Camillio inspected bunker # 17 satisfactory, SFC Taylor inspected Bunker # 4 found satisfactory. At 2353hrs Access Road received 10 rounds AK fire. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0935hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon to grid BS694513 and the 3rd Platoon is moving out to grid BS718485. At 1621hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon Patrol is at checkpoint 4 BS694507 and 2nd Platoon Patrol is at BS708514. At 1715hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon on received sniper fire from bunker area at grid BS708500. At 1812hrs completed sweep of area, found one bunker completely destroyed by 81mm, mortar fire. At 1810hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon spotted 1 VC/NVA evade into 2 shaped tunnel about 6’ deep and 20 meters lone, then 20 meters to the left, located in a very heavy hedgerow that’s 2500 meters long, Mechanical Ambush placed there. At 1940hrs Alpha Company 2nd and 4th Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS719511 with 1st Platoon at BS696514 and 3rd Platoon at BS716424 and has 11 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1030hrs Bravo Company requested routine Dust Off fro 1 US with frag wounds to arm and leg from a (blasting cap), Line #H0211, Bird # 27 completed at 1040hrs. The 3rd Platoon with Command Post on the move to BS715484 and 1926hrs Bravo Company they have moved to their Night Defense position at BS716484, 1st and 4th Platoons closed on BS725467 and by 2020hrs 2nd Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS726444.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0555hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon closed to grid BS659555. At 0605hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon closed to grid BS659555. At 0815hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon found some tunnels and fighting position at BS654553, sighted 1 person in area BS657558 have 17 female detainees no ID. Also 1 male back hauled to Mo Duc in same area element saw 2 VC with weapons evading to south at 300 meters engaged with negative finding. At 1000hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon sighted 4-5 VC with weapons, grenades, and canteens at BS658580 called in Fire Mission at BS670575 found 1 US canteen, 1 pistol belts, 1 AK with magazine, 2 frag and 4 55 gal drums of rice polished. At 1521hrs Charlie Company Command Post found 1 Booby trap can of Petna, blew it in place. At 1744hrs Charlie Company called in priority Dust Off for 1 EM with heat exhaustion, line #273 Bird Dolphin 22 resupply Bird, completed at 1807hrs. At 2013hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon observed 10 rounds M-79 HE impact in vicinity BS660572, place where impact in vicinity BS660572, place where rice stored for extraction tomorrow, rounds coming from vicinity of grid BS660572. SP4 John F. Quigley was attached to 91st Evac Hospital (11B20).
Delta Company

Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0645hrs Recon found booby trap that had been tripped in last 36 hours at BS684521, ID found too. At 1110hrs Recon found Booby Trap sign on a trail vicinity grid BS667525, words in Vietnamese. At Duc Pho reports PF #272 and 192 made contact with unknown size enemy force at BS834335 and BS834343 with results 5 PF WIA unknown enemy casualties. At 1738hrs Recon reports change in Night Defense Position at BS675525. At 1938hrs Recon will have ambush at BS663512. At 2005hrs Recon 1st squad in Night Defense Position at BS675525 and 2nd squad is moving to BS663512 and they closed at 2024hrs.
