Headquarters and Headquarter Company
March 25, 1968

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ O’Connor cutting the trails, looking for movement down into the Valley leading to the Coast and conducts a Security sweep south of Hiep DUC area. They are looking for building or signs of traffic or build up, into these areas. Bravo Company 3-21 Infantry was grid AT926269 found 1 M-60 machinegun very rusty and SN # obliterated will evac. Delta Company 1-20 Infantry 3rd Platoon linked up with Bravo Company 3-21 Infantry and provided security for the PZ at AT982228 with their move to LZ Center was back to their parent unit. Delta Company 3rd Platoon was then lifted back to LZ O’Connor. Delta Company 2-1 Infantry grid AT948288 observed 3 men 200 away evading southwest engaged with small arms fire with results 1 VC KIA, 3 packs and 1 AK 47 magazines and some documents CIA.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1350hrs 174 Aviation grid BS843364 truck hit mine, command detonated Artillery 105mm mine minor damage to truck, UPDATE 2 ½ ton truck was parked at the Sanitary fill in which a Vietnamese worker debarked the Vehicle setting off mine, fragments of explosion hit vehicle causing very minor damage, along with 2 WIA (M).

 

Alpha Company
March 25, 1968

Alpha Company and Recon Platoon will conduct Search and Destroy in the Hiep Duc Area then swept Northeast vicinity AT9126.

 

Bravo Company
March 25, 1968

Bravo Company 1-20 Infantry has the Security Mission for LZ O’Connor.

 

Charlie Company
March 25, 1968

At 1010hrs Charlie Company OPCON to TASK FORCE BARKER at BS657827 found 2 Artillery 175mm round duds, and destroyed in place.

 

Delta Company
March 25, 1968

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ O’Connor. Delta Company conducting Search and Destroy operations west to the vicinity AT8924 and returned to the FSB and the 3rd Platoon linked up with Bravo Company 3-21 Infantry and provided security for the PZ at AT982228 with their move to LZ Center and the platoon was then lifted back to LZ O’Connor. At 1330hrs Delta Company at AT946230 observed 1 man from behind hootch 100meters south, warning shots fired refused to halt, engaged with small arms fire with result 1 VC KIA.

 

 Echo Company
March 25, 1968

Echo Company and 4.2 platoon where now located on LZ O’Connor and set up to provide direct support to the Battalion. Alpha Company and Recon Platoon will conduct Search and Destroy in the Hiep Duc Area then swept Northeast to vicinity AT9126. At 1000hrs recon Platoon grid AT911262 found 2 US shot guns SN # 6973 and #6945, they where in poor condition and not operating will evac.
