Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0105hrs LATE SPOT MACV Mo Duc at 1900hrs on 24 June vicinity BS775454 1 10 year old boy was brought to LZ Max with gunshot wound believed to occur from element of Duc Pho in contact. Results 1 Vietnamese WID, Dust Off completed at 2235hrs. At 0247hrs Alpha Company LZ Liz LT Waugh checked bunkers 7, 8 and 9 everything is satisfactory. At 0236hrs Alpha Company LZ Liz bunkers 17, 1, 2 and 3 were inspected by LT Sprayberry and all were satisfactory. At 0242hrs LZ Liz, alert started 0242hrs at 0247hrs 100%time of cease-fire 0252hrs, time of return to 20% alert 0316hrs. LZ Liz observed it’s preplanned low illumination practice alert. The alert was initiated by the 1-20 Infantry Commander by use of radio, land-line and siren. The participating company was Alpha Company and the Alert was judged to be satisfactory by the Battalion Commander. At 0502hrs Warlord Blue working Box 62, broke station for fuel at 0525hrs have negative results. At 0913hrs Warlord 25 is working APD 276. At 0916hrs 1-20 Primo 2 is on station at this time. At 0920hrs Warlord 39 are working APD Box 276 and Air Calvary Box 52. At 1330hrs 4 ARVN LRRPS at 1000hrs vicinity BS374475 while on a search and clear mission had contact with 4 NVA resulting in 3 NVA KIA, 1 NVA CIA and 1 carbine CIA. At 1700hrs LATE SPOT ARVN Seals, landed approximately BS768606 at 2100hrs on 24 June to conduct a raid in vicinity BS755591, results were 2 VC CIA, 1 VC was a sub hamlet chief, the other VCS and some documents with all back hauled to MO Duc. The seals linked up with the tracks at 0715hrs and were taken to the beach to get back to their boat. At his time, because of information received from the VC CIA, an operation with the tracks has been instituted vicinity BS7658, element involved are E Troop and RF 103 Company. At 1715hrs TO Bravo, Charlie and Delta Companies FROM S-3 Recent Intelligence from Brigade indicates that elements of the 21st NVA Regiment plan active operations against either US or Government elements in the Duc Pho and Mo Duc districts during the 4 day period. Recent activity with the Area of Operations seems to substantiate this. Increases alertness should be observed by all elements. At 1945hrs LZ Liz Access Road, Bunker #5 observed 1 VC/NVA wearing white on black with pack and weapon at vicinity BS770445 moving west to east along a wood line. The RF/PF compound engaged and the VC/NVA evaded into the wood line. Mortar Fire Mission from LZ Liz received, negative clearance proximity of Ville. At 1958hrs Warlord Black on station for Nighthawk box 62, at 2040hrs out of box for fuel, negative findings. At 2055hrs is into Box 61 at 2145hrs out of box 61 with negative findings. At 2146hrs Warlord is into box 64 and at 2225hrs out of box 64 for fuel and negative findings. At 2020hrs Nui Vong, IOS spotted 5 VC/NVA with packs and weapons in 3 sampans vicinity BS671583 engaged with 19 rounds HE from US Tank and 3 rounds from ARVN tank, with unknown results. At 2043hrs MACV Duc Pho at 2000hrs MACV Compound received 3 incoming 82mm mortars. 1 landed in compound and other 2 were 300 meters to south of perimeter. Results were 1 child slightly wounded, did not require Dust Off. Counter mortar on BS803367, fired by ARVN guns on Bronco, rounds expended 30 rounds Artillery 105mm. At 2320hrs Duc Pho RF 169 at 2330hrs vicinity BS788421 while in ambush location, RF 169 made contact with unknown size VC element, engaged with small arms and clay mores with results were 5 Vietnamese civilians WIA by claymore, 3 VC KIA with 1 M-16 CIA. The VC evaded to the northwest. At 2347hrs Alpha Company LZ Liz bunkers 1, 2, 3 and 17 were inspected by LT Sprayberry found all to be satisfactory. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Chiu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0247hrs Alpha Company LZ Liz LT Waugh checked bunkers 7, d and 9 reports everything was satisfactory. At 0236hrs Alpha Company LZ Liz bunkers 17, 1, 2 and 3 were inspected by LT Sprayberry and all were satisfactory. Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco and the Brigade move North to LZ Dottie and the 4 Battalion of 21 Infantry returning home.
Charlie Company

Delta Company

At 0729hrs Delta Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon in Patrol Base at BS726452 using multiple patrols in their Area of Operation. At 1215hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol closed on BS720443. At 1645hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS720439. At 1725hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS720434. At 2021hrs Delta Company Night Defense Position 2nd Platoon at BS723447 and Command Post at BS727446.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0605hrs Recon is moving back to LZ Liz at this time and closed on LZ Liz at 0637hrs. At 1950hrs Recon element, while moving to their Night Defense Position spotted 2 NVA with packs, engaged with small arms fire, results 2 NVA KIA, 2 packs CIA, 1 pack consisted of a sandbag with assorted items in it that will be checked out at first light. In the 2nd Pack were documents and papers. Also CIA where 3 Chi Com grenades were blown in place, vicinity of contact was BS738432. At 2042hrs Recon change their Night Defense Position to vicinity BS743423.
