Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0030hrs Alpha Company SGT Cannon inspected bunkers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 all satisfactory. At 0152hrs LZ Liz went on Alert: at 0153hrs North OP, South OP and Access Road had 100% at 0157hrs, 105 had a 100% at 0157hrs and Alpha Company had 100% at 0159hrs, Cease fire called at 0200hrs, Alert ended at 0204hrs, rated satisfactory. Nui Vong had practice Alert. At 0252hrs had 100%, alert ended at 0255hrs reported satisfactory. At 1005hrs PF 250 while in ambush location made contact with 8 VC resulting in 2 VC KIA and CIA 1 M-14 and 2 Chi Com grenades, time of event 0730hrs. At 1200hrs 1-20 Infantry Alpha Company Area of Operation Box: Upper left BS7737, Lower right BS8033, 4 ARVN (MINH), Duc PHO (DRC), Ba To (WDP), Brigade (LWH). At 2-4 ARVN while on a search and destroy mission at BS573752 came upon an unknown size enemy force resulting in 2 NVA KIA and CIA 1 AK 47 and 8 Chi Com grenades time of event was 1130hrs. At 1515hrs 4 ARVN, at BS910226 a Command and Control Party was going into an LZ When they received heavy automatic weapons fire, resulting in 1 US WIA (0-4 type). Dust Off 59 completed at 1445hrs, time of event 1400hrs Patient was taken to Chu Lai. At 1520hrs 1-20 Infantry General McDonough arrived at LZ Liz. At 1535hrs RF 103 requested a tactical priority Dust Off for 1 RF with multiple frag wounds received from booby trap vicinity BS748400 Negative Vietnamese Air Force (AEN), Dust off 87 completed at 1608hrs taken to Quang Nagi. At 1540hrs 1-20 Infantry General McDonough left LZ Liz: was given a general update briefing and was mainly interested in personnel strengths and the number of people pulling security at Dottie and Da Nang. At 1600hrs Primo 2 of 11 Brigade Aviation is on station at this time. At 1618hrs 3-4 ARVN at 1430hrs vicinity BS912222 made contact with unknown size enemy force, resulting in 3 VC KIA, CIA 1 light machinegun and 4 M-16. At 1620hrs 3-4 ARVN at 1530hrs vicinity BS908184 the 3-4 ARVN mad contact with unknown size enemy force resulting in 2 VC KIA, CIA 2 AK47 and 4 Chi Com grenades. At 1700hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 2 from the 11 Infantry Brigade Aviation, has broke Station. At 1938hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Field Strength: Bravo 57, Charlie 46, Delta 56, HHC 10 and Echo Company 17. At 2020hrs Honest Black of B 123rd Aviation is on station to check Bronco at 2020hrs and at 2033hrs is checking LZ Liz. At 2033hrs Honest Black is checking LZ Snoopy and broke station with negative findings. At 2030hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Bravo 2, Charlie 2, Delta 3 and Recon 1 for a total of 8 out. Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Liz and a Security Mission for Access Road. At 1130hrs Alpha Company SGT Cannon inspected bunker line, all satisfactory. At 1530hrs General McDonough arrived at LZ Liz.
Bravo Company
July 25, 1971
Bravo Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2026hrs Bravo Company Command Post with 1st Platoon in their Night Defense Position is at BS704473 and 2nd Platoon at BS694464 with 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company set up Patrol Base and conducts multiple patrols in their Area of Operation. At 1630hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon Patrol is moving to BS706492. At 2011hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon moving into their Night Defense Position at BS705508 with 2 Mechanical Ambush out.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0655hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post while en route to their Patrol Base found at BS769347 main rotor blade to UH- D, serial # t2-911, also found in same area an old 155 rounds with no Petna. At 0730hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post closed on Patrol Base BS769348. At 0759hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol Base shifted to BS763347. In Patrol Base they found 1 booby trap in brush off the trail with a grenade with fishing trip wire and rubber band. The Line was 6" off the ground and 4’, one was 1 to 4 months old. At 1200hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon has closed vicinity BS763347. At 1704hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS764353 while on patrol found 1 dud 81mm mortar round and blown in place. At 1742hrs 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1 at BS762343. At 2022hrs Delta Company reports their element in Night Defense Position Command Post and 2nd platoon at BS767352, 1st Platoon at BS762353 with 3 Mechanical Ambush out.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0630hrs Recon Patrol Base has shifted to vicinity BS705468. At 0640hrs Recon is leaving LZ Liz at this time BS757441. At 0657hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz Access Road has been mine swept. At 0718hrs Recon element closed on LZ Liz at this time. At 1756hrs Recon is moving out to vicinity BS759407 and closed on their location at 2010hrs.
