HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTER COMPANY
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and moving to LZ Vanguard and OPCON to the 198 Infantry Brigade. At 0205hrs LATE SPOT Inferno Blue (Bravo 123 Aviation) is on station for Nghia Hanh Box 50, at 0148hrs at 723443 spotted 1 person in bunker, results 1 VC/NVA KIA. At 0200hrs checking LZ Bronco perimeter, at 0205hrs was diverted Inferno Blue informed that LZ Snoopy was receiving mortar fire and at 0206hrs. At 0208hrs Nui Vong directed to go to 100% Alert and LZ Snoopy taking incoming mortar fire. At 0215hrs LZ Snoopy received 8 to 10 mortar or rockets from grid 698609 and C/S from unknown location. At 0237hrs Inferno Blue broke station for fuel. At 0312hrs Nighthawk is back and on station checking Nui Vong and Snoopy perimeters. At 0330hrs Nui Vong back to normal status. At 0344hrs Inferno Blue is diverted to 757526 the suspected mortar location and at 0403hrs Infantry Blue is breaking station has radio problems. At 0421hrs LATE SPOT At 252300hrs MACV Mo Duc at 733654 RF compound Duc Pho get hit by ground attack, with results 7 VC bodies in wire, also 3 B41, 2 AK 47, 16 B-41 rounds and 40 assorted hand frag grenades were CIA. At 0422hrs LATE SPOT Time of event 0310hrs 1 122 rocket on northwest side of compound in Ville, mortar was believed to be fired from 757529. It was believed VC brought mortars 770515. Read Back results 2 Civilians KIA, 3 civilians WIA and 3 houses destroyed. At 0615hrs S-4 re supply is on station and at 0630hrs AMC Bird is on station rattler 506 (176 Aviation). At 0715hrs 1-20 Infantry PZ times and LZ times: 1. PZ 0715hrs Alpha Company LZ 0728hrs, 2. PZ 0739hrs Alpha LZ 0752hrs, 3. PZ 0813hrs PZ TOC and Recon LZ 0822hrs, 4. PZ 0834hrs Delta LZ 0846hrs, 5. PZ 0853hrs Delta LZ 0904hrs, 6. PZ 0957hrs Bravo 3-1 Infantry LZ 0936hrs, 7, PZ 0946hrs Bravo 3-1 Infantry LZ 1012hrs, 8. PZ 1050hrs Charlie 3-1 Infantry LZ 1102hrs Combat Assault is completed. At 1300hrs at this LZ Liz was turned over to the 4 ARVN Regiment. At 1945hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry Command Post is at 668414 and 59 S patrol is at 664412. At 2000hrs Charlie Company 3-1 Infantry 2nd Platoon in Night Defense Position and their snake is in location at 2051hrs. At 2030hrs Inferno Blue (Bravo 123 Aviation) is on station working box 51 departed box 51 at 2110hrs to check Bronco, Liz, and Snoopy perimeters and broke station at 2143hrs. At 2240hrs Bravo Company Combat Assault has been approved and at 2252hrs Alpha Company Eagle flight has been approved. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97, CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
ALPHA COMPANY
At 0715hrs 1st PZ Alpha Company 1-20 Infantry with 1st LZ at 0728hrs and 2nd PZ at 0719hrs with 2nd LZ at 0752hrs. Alpha Company is setting up defense perimeter for LZ Vanguard at 577433. At 2000hrs Alpha Company found old 250 pound bomb with Petna at LZ Vanguard, will blow in place when we depart. It was rusty with no lot # on it. LZ Liz turned over at 1300hrs for ARVN, Alpha Company set up Security Mission LZ Vanguard.
BRAVO COMPANY

1-20 Infantry has closed out of LZ Liz and turned over to the 4th ARVN Regiment. All Combat elements of 1-20 Infantry are Air Lifted to LZ Vanguard at grid 577133. Bravo Company is taking over the Security Mission for LZ Vanguard as LZ Vanguard is opened.
CHARLIE COMPANY
At 1254hrs Charlie Company at 653404 found in LZ a well used trail and 25 meters east of LZ in wood line found 2 sleeping position which had been used in the last 24 hours. At 1428hrs Charlie Company found ammo can containing 200 rounds of M-60 ammo. 1-20 Infantry at 1300hrs had turned over LZ Liz to the 4th ARVN Regiment with 1-20 Infantry now at LZ Vanguard (West of LZ Liz about 20 clicks).
DELTA COMPANY

Delta Company has the Security Mission for LZ Vanguard and working on the perimeter defense positions LZ Vanguard located at 577433.
ECHO COMPANY

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion as they prepare to turn over LZ Liz to the ARVN. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense, Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0715hrs 1-20 Infantry Combat Assault begins with 1-20 Infantry TOC and Recon 3. PZ 0813hrs PZ TOC and Recon LZ 0822hrs and begins setting up Battalion TOC at LZ Vanguard.
