Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0430hrs Radar at 2015hrs sighted 1 to 5 stationary personnel at BS770429 with 16 HE rounds of 155 Artillery. At 2115hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted that where moving north at BS770432 and engaged with 4 HE rounds of 4.2 mortar. At 2320hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS710429 and engaged with 18 HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 0110hrs 3 to 6 stationary personnel were sighted at BS764366 and engaged with 14 HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 0135hrs 3 to 6 stationary personnel were sighted at BS719444 and negative clearance was given due to the proximity of Charlie Company. At 0450hrs 6 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS712414 engaged with sighted at BS712414 and engaged with HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 0925hrs Alpha Company Colonel Lynch reported a partially destroy hootch at BS709557. There were persons wearing black pajamas inside the hootch. The Alpha 91 element is moving to check out the area, also a White Team is on station and White Team is on station and the tracks are moving to check it also. At 0953hrs 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation extension request in the Date/Time/Grid 251800hrs August 1970 from the present in area BS680562 to BS670540 to BS680540 for the purpose of Alpha Company to check out an area of suspected enemy positions Approved by Brigade. At 0956hrs 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation extension request is in the Date/Time/Grid 261200hrs to 301800hrs August 1970 in the area BS7046 to BS6946 to BS6938 to BS7238 to BS735396 for the purpose of Recon SRRP operations will need this area as a buffer for supporting fires Area of Operations was approved by Brigade CPT Carillo B #06. At 1400hrs Helix 34 at BS755341 on the eastside of a trail on top of a ridge spotted 3 small freshly dug holes. Also could be a possible site for 51 Caliber out in the open nearby, also 2 bunkers on the western side of the trial. At 1815hrs 26 Engineer reports a total 35 acres were cleared at BS687540 to BS689541 to BS689537 and BS687537 destroying 8 Bunkers. Also destroyed 2 fighting position, 150 meters of trench, 1 250-pound bomb, 1 M 72 Law and 1 antipersonnel mine along with a homemade booby trap. We have 3 D7 operational and 2 D7 deadline, 1 AC and 1 M548 operational. At 2010hrs TMF String 73b was activated by a stationary target with metal confirmed and was engaged with 16 HE rounds of 105 Artillery. At 2150hrs Brigade 1-20 Infantry and MACV Mo Duc are to get together and ensure that highway 1 is open 270700hrs August 1970.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
August 25, 1970
At 0925hrs Alpha Company Colonel Lynch reported that a partially destroyed Hooch at BS709557. There were personnel wearing black pajamas inside. Alpha 91 element moving to check out the area and at 1035hrs Alpha Company the 93 element is approaching the area of suspected VC and are searching and sweeping the Area of BS695560. The 91 element found one 81mm container hidden in hootch sending two vehicles back to help 3 vehicles, which are bogged down in Rice Paddies at BS695560. At 1105hrs we requests an urgent Dust Off for 2 US personnel with multiple frag wounds to the legs from a booby trapped 105 round with a trip wire device, ETA 05+10 minutes completed at 1120hrs. The booby trap was in a rice paddy at BS709547 and a second 105 round set up as a daisy chain reaction, one in paddy and other on a dike. At 1200hrs Report PFC Dunn was KIA with multiple frag wounds head and amputation of both legs and SGT Matthews lost one leg at the hip and other leg above the knee and treated at 27 Surgical Hospital. At 1535hrs Alpha Company 01, 03, 04 elements are in location and the 91 element is moving to BS685551 and there tracks area still stuck in the paddy. Flare ship on station and at 2030hrs all APC are out of Rice paddies with a (little) help from engineers, flare ships and everyone now is moving to Night Defense Position. Alpha Company reports PFC CARL EDWARD DUNN LISTED AS KIA.
Bravo Company

At 1645hrs Bravo Company at 0730hrs one B40 rocket launcher found, upon returning to Command Post the element had only a trail find of the Rocket Bravo Company does not have a launcher. Bravo Company will use multiple patrolling in the Area of Operation.
Charlie Company

At 0751hrs Charlie Company 44 element has closed on BS730430 and the Company will use multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today.
Delta Company
August 25, 1970
Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Echo Company
August 25, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0400hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon reports Fire Mission 4 for a total expended of HE 33 and WP 1 rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 infantry on LZ Liz.
