Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0255hrs LZ Liz went on 100% practice alert. At 0330hrs LZ Liz is back on normal alert status. At 0410hrs To Commanding Officer 11th Brigade from Commanding Officer 1-20 Infantry: 1. Fire Base Practice Alert Charlie Battery 6-11 Artillery Satisfactory, C Battery 3-82 Artillery Satisfactory, 1-20 Infantry Command Post and Delta Company Unsatisfactory. 2. Line Company response was poor in attaining 100%, uniforms, etc, deficiencies in bunker communications, 3. Critique will be held in AM, new procedures established and additional alert conducted until satisfactory rating attained. At 0415hrs Alpha Company has 4 Mechanical Ambushes out at this time. Bravo Company has 2 mechanical ambushes out. At 0730hrs Dolphin 15 is on station at this time. At 0825hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 3 is on station at this time and broke station at 1002hrs. At 1055hrs is on station at this time. At 1225hrs Alpha Company Helix 35 while flying Visual Recon for Alpha Company sighted 4 .51caliber positions vicinity BS664532, BS67540, BS661555, and BS656557. The 1st Platoon will have check 1st Position out tomorrow, 2nd Platoon has already been checking with negative finding and the last 2 have been engaged with artillery. At 1300hrs 1-20 Infantry broke station. At 1315hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord 3 is on station at this time. At 1415hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 39 is on station at this time. At 1430hr Warlord 3 is breaking station with negative findings. At 1540hrs MACV Mo Duc at BS753574 requests Urgent Dust Off for 1 RF wounded from sniper fire 600 meters west of PZ 1 hour ago completed at 1630hrs. At 1625hrs Delta Company conducts a Combat Assault started at 1625hrs AMC 1. LZ Delta 13 LZ 1705hrs, 2. Delta 51-66 LZ 1720hrs, 3. Delta 26 LZ 1727hrs, 4. Delta 17 LZ 1742hrs Combat Assault was completed at 1745hrs. At 2145hrs 11th Brigade general message sent from 11 Brigade due to the increased enemy activity in Area of Operation today, forward Fire Bases, are to be especially alert. This is not an increase to 50 or 100% but make sure normal status is alert, per instructions of Major Peppers, called North OP, South OP, CPT Lucas 105’s, LT Smith 155, and Nui Vong LT Korone. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. SP5 Sammuel Hollins was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital medic.
Alpha Company
April 25, 1971
Alpha Company continued to use multiple Patrols with Daylight ambushes in their Area of Operation. At 0735hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon ambushes closed on BS680540, 1st Platoon ambush closed on BS682519 and 1st Platoon is moving out to Patrol Base vicinity BS673515. At 0935hrs All Company are in their Patrol Bases with 3rd Platoon patrol moving out at this time. At 1225hrs Helix 35 while flying cover for Alpha Company sighted 4 51 Cal position vicinity BS664532, BS671540, BS661555, and BS656557. 1st Platoon will check 1st possible out tomorrow, 2nd position has already been checked with negative finding and last two have been engaged by Artillery. On the mine field that we fired on we did get 4 secondary explosions. Alpha Company conducted a Combat Assault at 1645hrs 1st PZ and last LZ at 1745hrs. At 1830hrs Alpha Company location Command Post with 2nd and 4th Platoons Night Defense Position at BS680541, 1st Platoon Night Defense Position at BS672513 with ambushes out tonight.
Bravo Company

At 0702hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon is moving to their Patrol base at BS724403 and at 0705hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 1st Platoon is moving to their Patrol Base at BS725450 with Bravo Company 2nd Platoon in their Patrol Base at BS725450. At 0719hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon while moving to Patrol Base found 3 bunkers size 3’ X 3’, they were located on a trail camouflaged by a hedgerow. The bunkers had fresh sugar cane in them. Last use 48hrs, 3rd Platoon destroyed bunkers with hand frag grenades. At 1840hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon after setting a Mechanical Ambush at BS706438 and returning to Patrol Base heard it detonate moving out to check it out now, and received 10-15 rounds of small arms fire from 350 meters to their north. Sweeping the ambush area found much blood, 1 Chi Com, 1 VC KIA, female 26 dressed in black. Bravo also engaged 2 other personnel males who evaded the north, northwest, checked out area with negative finding closed on Patrol Base. At 1952hrs 3rd Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS721403 Mechanical Ambushes are in location at this time. Bravo Company Command Post and 1st Platoon is at BS726446 and the 2nd Platoon in their Night Defense Position at BS712434.

Delta Company

Practice Alert conducted at LZ Liz at 2035hrs, Command Post and Delta Company was unsatisfactory. The following where found 1. Poor notification procedures found in Command Post. 2. Line Company Response poor in attaining 100% uniforms. 3. There was Deficiencies in the bunker communication. Critique will be held in AM, there will be new procedures established and additional Alerts conducted until satisfactory rating is attained. Delta Company conducts a Combat Assault started at 1625hrs completed at 1745hrs. At 1912hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon is moving to BS702501. At 1928hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon is in their preplanned position at BS701501, 2nd Platoon is at BS712475, 2nd Platoon at BS712475, 2nd Platoon ambush at BS712476, and the Command Post and 1st and 4th Platoon is at BS712492. At 2048hrs Delta Command Post 4th and 1st platoon at BS710489, 3rd platoon at BS702502, 2nd plat at BS712475, 2nd platoon ambush vicinity BS712476.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry and is located at Nui Vong.
