Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0920hrs Warlord Lead we picked up 1 male VCS at grid BS792403, 200 meters from the mine accident. At 1045hrs Charlie 39th Engineer report at 0830hrs at BS795405, Vietnamese Lambretta hit 35 pound mine in the crater of the road. All 11 passengers were killed. The crater is 4 ½ feet deep, 6 foot wide, contacted MACV Duc Pho at Duc Pho for removal of the destroyed items. At 1400hrs 1-20 Infantry Unobserved missions cannot be shot closer then 600 meters with 105mm Artillery. At 1600hrs 1-20 Infantry Ajax: Alpha 104, Bravo 99, Charlie 104, Delta 104, Recon Platoon 22, 4.2 Platoon 22. At 2012hrs Helix 33 FAC we are now in your Area of Operation, I have fighters on station, do you have a grid for an Air Strike, We have cleared grid BS800492. At 2023hrs 1-20 Infantry Bomb Damage Assessment on Night Owl 90/80, structures destroyed and four sustained fires, time on target 2023hrs at BS800492.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry S-4 Lot #31-10 of 81mm mortar rounds has had short rounds check your ammo.
Alpha Company

At 0600hrs Alpha Company requested a Dust Off for man who burned his hand last night with trip flare, completed at 0810hrs. At 0815hrs Alpha Company we are moving out on today’s Operations. At 0947hrs Delta Company we are in our Day Logger at BS735475. At 1600hrs Alpha Company is at BS735475 and move into their Night Defense Position at BS737477 around 2030hrs.
Bravo Company

At 0705hrs Bravo Company we are moving to our Day Logger position and report at 0741hrs we have closed on grid BS802427 our Day Logger position. At 0847hrs Bravo Company at BS795404 a Vietnamese vehicle hit a mine, unknown extent of damage at this time. Our 33 element will go to the location and give us a read back. At the accident scene, the vehicle hit a large mine and people were blown all over the place. At 1055hrs Bravo Company at BS802422 from their Day Logger detained 2 VCS males age 13 and his mother people in Ville say they are VC and will be evac to Bronco. At 1155hrs Bravo Company reports the refugees have arrived for the rice harvest approximately 200 Vietnamese. At 1210hrs Bravo Company 61 element will move their base to grid BS815405. At 1340hrs Bravo Company at BS807427, found a total of 2 tons of Rice and all given to the refugees and what little that is left we will burn. At 1415hrs 01 element has closed and 61 will stay on patrol base until later. At 1550hrs Bravo Company we received information from Vietnamese that a 500 pound bomb is at approximately grid BS774427. We would like to have our ranger element check it out. S-3 assist get them ready and Command and Control Helicopter is in bound. At 1700hrs Bravo Company all element have closed on our location. At 1845hrs Bravo Company my ranger element checked out the area but didn’t fine the bomb. We are holding 3 children (8-10) tonight for interrogation. They acted as if the area was mined because they were reluctant to go into some areas. The boy that gave us the information about the bomb says that the bomb is in a stream covered with bamboo, so we are going to take the boy with us to look for it tomorrow. Also we blew 2 155mm rounds and a naval gun ship round about 2.5 feet long today. At 2030hrs Bravo Company moved to their Night Defense Position at BS784431 with 32 at BS775455 and 33 at BS796404. At 2130hrs Bravo company 33 at 2110hrs RF heard VC broadcast stating that they could mine the "Red Ball", or the access road at any time they got ready, also they played music in Vietnamese.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Delta Company
September 24, 1969
At 0750hrs Delta Company is at BS759435. At 1755hrs Delta Company at BS759435 detained 2 VCS females, spotted by Liz Access Road when halted they started running will be evac to Liz for questioning. At 2100hrs Delta Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS759435 with 02 at BS771442, 33 at Snoopy, 63 at BS762434 and 03 at BS767438.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0718hrs 4.2 Platoon Schedule Fires 7, Observed Mission 4 and Defense Target 1 total expended 76 HE and 1 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0345hrs Recon would not answer Command or their internal net. At 0655hrs Re report they are in our Day logger at this time. At 0750hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS777452 which will be their Day Logger. At 2030hrs Recon Platoon report their night locations Recon BS777447 and 32 and 33 at BS755637.
