Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. At 1135hrs 1-20 Infantry reports gun ships received 8 rounds of small arms fire from BT0236 with negative hits. At 2350hrs 4-31, 1-6, 1-20 Infantry all report that they are receiving incoming at this time
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0235hrs Village at bottom LZ Thunder received 5 rounds Mortar fire and Delta Company 19 Engineer returned fire with automatic weapons and small arms fire. Rounds landed in village with unknown damage or casualties. At 0820hrs Charlie Company at grid BS717596 found 1 105mm mine on side of road. Removed firing device and blew in place.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company has the Security Mission for LZ Ross. Alpha Company will have one platoon sweep west of LZ Ross and Return. Alpha Company is to sweep south from LZ Ross to vicinity BT0231. At 1540hrs Alpha Company at grid BT012357 located hole in side of river bank, 5’ X 2’ inside found 1 pair US jungle boots, 2 NVA gray uniforms, 1 PRC 25 Battery and 1 M-60mm carrying bag and will evac. At 1650hrs 1-20 Infantry reports at BT027342 a Vietnamese turned in 3 105mm rounds and 1 155mm rounds paid 400 Piasters.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Ryder and will be conducting local Security Patrols in their Area of Operation along with local OP.
Charlie Company
May 24, 1968
Charlie Company will swept east and closed on LZ Ross and has taken over the Security Mission for LZ Ross. At 0850hrs Charlie Company at AT969333 received 15 rounds of small arms fire from the northwest of enemy locations, returned fire and called Artillery with results negative casualties and checking area now. Charlie Company reports their location on LZ Ross.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Sweep and Clear operations to AT993404 to AT98995 in their Area of Operation north of LZ Ross. Delta Company Night Defense Position is at AT993404.
Echo Company
May 24, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward, is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense on LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry Recon Platoon manned OP Tiger, Cobra and Dragon. At 0846hrs Recon at BT001317 observed 1 VC evading 500 meters south engaged with M-60 fire with results unknown at this time.
