Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0915hrs 26 Engineer reports Access Road is now open. At 1500hrs Warlord 227 is on station for resupply. At 2225hrs Saber 40 is on station to check out Box 41 and broke station at 2245hrs with negative findings. Legend: 1st Platoon 33, 2nd Platoon 46, 3rd Platoon 22, 4th Platoon 09, CO-42.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 24, 1971
Alpha Company was using saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0702hrs Alpha Company Command Post with 1st and 4th Platoons is moving out to BS632535. At 0845hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon patrol is moving out to vicinity BS632545 with 1st Platoon at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS635535. At 0905hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to BS622554. At 1415hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon on patrol found one sleeping position located along a streambed between rocks. It was approximately 6’ by 6’ by 3’ with straw on the bottom, grid BS628537. At 1426hrs Alpha Company 4th Platoon while searching grid BS639536 found a booby trapped 4.2 HE round and it had a pressure type firing device and 2-3 weeks old, located on a used trail and we blew it in place. At 1900hrs Alpha Company, while moving to their ambush location, vicinity BS623536, and the 1st Platoon made contact with an unknown size enemy element 200 meters to the east. They received 2 B40’s, 3 60mm mortar rounds, and 3 M-79 along with small arms and some automatic fire. They returned fire and engaged with artillery, and requested Gun ships and Saber 40 and Warlord 20 responded on station at 1925hrs. The Gun Ships expended in Area and broke station with negative results at 2035hrs. 1st Platoon moved to new location and will check area of contact at first light. At 2210hrs Alpha Company 1st and 2nd Platoon is located vicinity BS623537, all others elements in Pre plan location, Command Post and 4th Platoon at BS641534, 1st Platoon and 2nd Platoon at BS623537, 3rd Platoon at vicinity of BS628550.
Bravo Company
March 24, 1971
Bravo Company continued to use multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 0742hrs Bravo Company 3rd and 1st Platoon is moving out for BS642483. At 0925hrs Bravo 3rd Platoon is moving to BS635484. At 1001hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon is moving to BS635486. At 1726rhs Bravo Company all patrols have closed. At 1956hrs Bravo Company locations are Command Post, 2nd and 4th Platoon at BS639489, and the 1st and 3rd Platoon at BS646485.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is using multiple patrols and some Day Ambush in their Area of Operation. At 0906hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to BS708457. At 1005hrs Charlie Company Command Post element spotted 5 personnel with rucksacks vicinity BS718408 and calling in artillery on this target. The Recon element will check out this area. At 1015hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon patrol is moving to BS719461. At 1728hrs Charlie Company all patrols have closed. At 2000hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS714452, 1st Platoon at BS708448, 1st Platoon ambush at BS705449, 3rd Platoon at BS716461, with the 3rd Platoon ambush at BS717463.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz along with road security. At 1905hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon ambush is in vicinity BS725435.
Echo Company
March 24, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1104hrs Recon Platoon is moving out to vicinity BS709412 to check out Charlie Company sighting at 1005hrs at BS718408. At 1410hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon patrol is moving to BS717462. At 1840hrs Recon is closing on LZ Liz.
