Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0240hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC TMF at 0223hrs String 73b was activated by 5 personnel that where moving southwest to northeast at 3 mile per hour with no metal detected and shot at 0239hrs with 22 VT rounds of Artillery 105mm with Bravo Company informed. At 0809hrs Delta Company 71 and the 26 Engineer we are operating from BS745623 to the west. At 1440hrs 26 Engineer the clearing in the assigned area can not be accomplished because a document from the Chief of Mo Duc giving this land to the people. At 1605hrs the 26 Engineer we are moving back to our Day Logger. At 1710hrs 26 Engineer reports a total of 27 hours were worked clearing 22 acres at BS744613 to BS745610 to BS746613 and BS638609 to BS737611 to BS740613 to BS740610. We destroyed 1 105 round and have 4 D7 operational with 1 deadline with a hydraulic hose. At 2019hrs 1-20 Infantry and 4-21 Infantry was informed of the fishing Ville location at BS834396, with call sign of Welder 91 Yankee and a frequency of 58.60. At 2356hrs S-5 report, at BS732426 5 minutes of tape timed was aimed at VC at BS7259 with 28,000 leaflets and 5 minutes of tape time (WIP) and at BS7344 with 5 minutes of tape time was employed against the VC.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company started with multiple patrols and some Day Mechanical Ambush locations in their Area of Operations. At 1850hrs Alpha Company we are moving into our Night Defense Position at BS738419.
Bravo Company
June 24, 1970
At 0045hrs Bravo Company the 92 element received 5 to 6 rounds of sniper fire, (small arms) from their southeast at 500 meters of friendly location at BS789417 and we checked out the immediate area with negative finding. At 0908hrs Bravo Company at BS817440 found 2 Punji pits (3’ X 3’) covered with grass both where destroyed. At 0910hrs Bravo Company the 21 element found a bunker with brass pots and pans, coffee at BS825435 and the 21 element and 91 elements destroyed their findings with hand frag. At 1917hrs Bravo Company the 91 element sighted 5 VC evading north, northeast at BS830420 with the PF pursuing, the 91 element did not fire because of the PF where in the line of fire, they sighted at 200 meters and successfully evaded.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road. At 2027hrs Charlie Company all Access Road snakes are in location.
Delta Company
June 24, 1970
At 0410hrs Delta Company the 31, 91 and 21 elements are moving out, the 91 element will block from BS745629 to BS741638 and the 21 element will block from BS745647 to BS751646. At 0654hrs Delta Company Sweep Operation with the PF element completed at 0835hrs. At 0809hrs Delta 71 and the 26 Engineer we are operating from BS745623 to the west. At 0835hrs Delta Company at grid BS746644, the PF with Delta Company 21 found 6 bunkers with 10’ branches to the northwest to a gully and trenches leading to the south, Delta Company destroyed with hand frag. The PF element received 4-5 sniper rounds at 200 meters to the southeast, at BS727659 we saw 4 persons evading and were not engaged, there was evidence of recent activity in the area. At 1044hrs 21 and RF split up to return to their locations. One PF tripped a 105 booby trap at BS759642, the PF needs an Urgent Dust Off for Multiple Frag Wounds completed at 1105hrs. At 1930hrs Delta Company 71with Charlie Company 26 Engineer we received 2 incoming rounds, believed to be 60mm mortars, from their southeast at 1500 meters. They landed on the northwest side of the perimeter with negative casualties or damage at grid BS743593. We are calling in artillery on the suspected enemy location at grid BS743593. At 2035hrs Delta Company reports their multiply snakes are all in their locations.
Echo Company
June 24, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 8 for a total expended of 67 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
