Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0230hrs 3-1 Infantry MO Duc received small arms fire called for mortar fire. At 0915hrs Charlie Company 19th Engineers at BS917248 report 2 Vietnamese women brought up a wounded Vietnamese male on a litter. They said that he was wound, by a chopper, while fishing was Dusted Off estimate wounds to be 4 hours old and had no ID. At 1035hrs 1-20 Infantry request an EOD team to go to LZ Thunder have located 26 anti personnel mines, fairly new, no rust and will send Command and Control Helicopter to pick up EOD team. At 1400hrs 1-20 Infantry requests Platoon (-) of APC to say with Bravo Company tonight and secure the LZ on 25 July 1968. E Troop will have 1 Platoon (-) to say overnight with Bravo Company. At 2225hrs Dolphin Flare Ship at BS845313 received unknown number of tracer rounds, negative hits, called Artillery on position with negative assessment (6 rounds 105mm HE fired).
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company will continue with their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. SP4 John N. Vissers was evac to 2nd Surgical Hospital at 2215hrs.
Bravo Company
July 24, 1968
Bravo Company Conducts a Combat Assault 1st Lift 0608hrs and last LZ 0639hrs cold. At 0842hrs Bravo Company at BS907288 found a VC body still warm, male, died of frag wounds, little people says he is a VC, killed by sharks. At 1025hrs Bravo Company at BS910290, engaged 1 VC evading result 1 VC KIA, 1 45cal pistol was CIA #1914738. The VC KIA wearing White PJ fired 5 of 7 rounds at Bravo Company troops also observed 2 VC evading from same area. At 1045hrs engaged 2 VC evading results Bravo Company captured 1 VCS and had 1 VC KIA, will evac CIA to LZ Bronco for questioning at 1115hrs at grid 910290. At 1400hrs 1-20 Infantry request: Platoon (-) of APC to stay with Bravo Company tonight and secure the LZ on July 25. At 1815hrs Bravo Company locations are 30 and Command Post at BS885288, 12 at BS885295, 23 BS890290 and 21 at BS885281.
Charlie Company

At 0829hrs Charlie Company is located at 817401. At 1815hrs Charlie Company 10 at LZ Bronco, 20 and Command Post in Night Defense Position at BS822398, ambushes 31 BS807410, 32 BS822408 and 33 BS833397.
Delta Company
July 24, 1968
At 0612hrs Delta Company Mike Boats with Delta 1st of the 20th hit beach at BS925276 at 0612hrs and at 0635hrs engaged 1 VC results 1 VC KIA, 1 45cal pistol, 1 compass, 1 web gear and 3 PJ CIA. Documents indicate he is a VC Village Chief, 45cal pistol #2324435. Delta Company also detained 1 VCS female, evading at BS920280. At 0635hrs Delta Company at BS920280 detained 1 VCS female evading. At 0802hrs at BS913203 a Scout Dog silver tripped a booby trap resulting in one scout dog killed, 1 US KHA and 1 Vietnamese Kit Carson Scout WHA, Dust Off requested also 1 US WHA minor. At 0829hrs Delta Company is at BS920280. At 0900hrs Delta Company at BS920280 picked up a wounded VC had a bullet wound in the back Dust Off is completed at 0912hrs. At 1035hrs Delta Company at BS920196 found 125 pounds of polished rice, 3 100 bags of rice and the rest was in sandbags found in hooch. Also found 2 M-16 magazines, 1 US Canteen, 1 machete and several uniforms, (jungle fatigues). At 1815hrs Delta Company 30, Command Post is located at Charlie Brown with 10 at BS902208, 11 at BS904206, 20 at BS923188 and 23 at BS917187.CPL. RUSSELL MARTIN ERICKSON listed as KHA (59th Infantry Platoon Scout Dogs attached to Delta Company).
Echo Company
July 24, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. At1200hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS568688.
