Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0225hrs 6th Support receiving fire from in front of bunker 53, all other element negative contact. At 0225hrs 6th Support observed movement in area vicinity of Bunker 53 illuminating area by hand held flare. Task Force Barker will be formed today and to be committed in Operation Muscatine with Alpha Company 3-1 Infantry, Bravo Company 4-3 Infantry, Charlie Company 1-20 Infantry, and Headquarters 11th Infantry Brigade.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0200hrs 6th Support reports to be receiving fire from in front of bunker 53. All other elements negative contact. At 0225hrs 6th Support observed movement in area vicinity bunker 53 Illumination area by hand held flare. At 2245hrs 6th Support, heavy sniper fires on bunker 04 at BS837367. One round, glanced off helmet of man occupying bunker, negative casualties, Illumination is fired. At 2255hrs LT Rich advised that approximately 10 enemy personnel had passed behind bunker 04 on Beach Road at BS837367, requested continuous illumination from 6-11 Artillery. At 2317hrs 6th Support receiving small arms fire from Northeast direction across river in front of bunkers 4, 6 and 7. The S-4 section 1-20 Infantry will work with their Team in Chu Lai will working with 4-3 Infantry S-4 to coordinate supplies for Charlie Company 1-20 OPCON to Task Force Baker.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder and used multiple patrolling and night ambushes in their Area of Operation.
Bravo Company
January 24, 1968
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ OD and continued to use multiple patrolling and night ambushes in their Area of Operation. Task Force Barker was formed to be committed in Operation Muscatine on the January 24, 1968 units involved are Alpha Company 3-1 Infantry, Bravo Company 4-3 Infantry and Charlie Company from the 1-20 Infantry and 11th Brigade Headquarters. At 1030hrs Bravo Company and 52 Military Intelligence team found 2 tunnels at grid BS89029. Equipment found 9 full M-16 magazines. 4 grenades (2US and Chi Com), 30 rounds of 30 caliber ammo, 1 US bayonet, 6 rounds M-79, 8 clips soviet 7.62, several gray uniforms. At 1500hrs Bravo Company reports Security Mission LZ OD and 1 platoon now at BS773342.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is en route to LZ Carentan to prepare for their movement north for their Operation with Task Force Baker. Task Force Barker was formed to be committed to Operation Muscatine on January 24, 1968 with Alpha Company 3-1 Infantry, Bravo Company 4-3 Infantry, Charlie Company 1-20 Infantry and Headquarters 11th Brigade. Note: 198th Infantry Brigade Assume responsibility for Operation Muscatine from the 3rd Brigade 4th Infantry Division on the 25 of January at 0700hrs. The 4-3 Infantry will continue operation in western portion, Task Force Barker now with 2nd Infantry Companies and 1 Platoon E Troop 1st Calvary will operate in eastern portion. The 1-52 Infantry will continue present mission in Muscatine Area of Operation, Task Force Barker became OPCON to the 198th and will maintain security of LZ Uptight and LZ Dottie.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and conducts patrolling and Search and Destroy Operations in their Area of Operation.
Echo Company
January 24, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. Recon reports their location at LZ Thunder and their Security Mission. At 0918hrs Recon Platoon at BS779329 engaged 2 VC results 2 VC KIA captured 1 45 caliber pistol SN 2347264 maps and documents. I VC dressed in gray uniform with red sweater underneath, 1 VC dressed in green uniform with red sweater underneath. Both wore Ho Chi Minh sandals Recon has 3 WIA none serious from grenade, PFC Danny L Knupp, frag in thigh, SP4 Ronny R. Lorance, frag in arms and PFC Clifford E.Overton, frag in hand all where evac to LZ Bronco. At 1500hrs Recon Platoon reports their locations at BS778319 and BS780319.
