Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0505hrs Radar sighted at 1915hrs 5 to 6 personnel moving to southwest at BS790471 and engaged with 24 HE of 4.2 Mortar rounds and at 1945hrs 5 to 6 personnel were sighted moving northeast at BS711458 and engaged with 8 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 2125hrs 8 to 10 personnel were sighted moving north at BS789471 and engaged with 57 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0802hrs 1-20 Infantry to Recon Platoon the PZ time is 0930hrs and the location is BS800477. At 1040hrs Warlord is on station we request clearance in grids BS6835, BS6844, BS7348 and BS7535, clearance was given. At 1125hrs Helix 38 is on station and is laying on a Air Strike into BS763362, negative findings in the area. At 1205hrs Warlord at BS723412 spotted 3 fresh graves and 2 small tunnels, at grid BS747367 and we destroyed 1 hootch at grid BS701383. We observed 20 poles laying on a trail and at grid BS740379 with 1 hootch results destroyed. At 1310hrs 1-20 Infantry the Battalion Command left LZ Liz and returned at 1530hrs.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2144hrs LZ Bronco received 1 incoming 60mm mortar round and we are on Phase 1 alert. Recon Platoon is located in the 1-20 Infantry area.
Alpha Company
February 24, 1970
Alpha Company returned to LZ Liz at 1033hrs and by 1240hrs Alpha Company reports that they are now in our Day Logger at grid BS769411. At 1745hrs Alpha Company we are now in our Night Defense Position.
Bravo Company
February 24, 1970
Bravo Company again used multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 1040hrs we request an ambulance for one young Vietnamese who is suffering from persistent black outs possible overdose of drugs. At 1235hrs the 74 element with PRU spotted 2 VC, one wearing red shorts with a striped shirt and other was wearing ARVN type clothing. They started to evade and were engaged resulting in one VC KIA (1 PRU KIA), and the other VC successfully evaded. The VC KIA was wearing red shorts and a striped shirt and was carrying a set of black pajamas, no weapon was found Name of KIA was Nguyen Rang, age 25 to 30 from C219 at grid BS754443. At 1544hrs Bravo Company reports the 46 element and Ranger elements moving to BS794429 and BS779428 respectively.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0235hrs Charlie Company the 82 element has a Mechanical Ambush go off and checked the area with negative findings. At 0735hrs Charlie Company the 34 element is moving out to BS725454. At 0925hrs TMF has been inserted into the location of Charlie Company location. At 1515hrs Charlie Company the 34 element on the TMF Mission is ready for has closed on LZ Liz. At 2025hrs Charlie Company reports all snakes in location 76 at BS747435, 46 at BS765437, 46a to BS760436 and 46b at BS770438.
Delta Company

At 0535hrs Delta Company reports all snakes are closed on BS764427. At 0640hrs Delta Company, Command Post is moving out of their Night Defense Position to LZ Liz. At 0702hrs Delta Company we have closed on the base of LZ Liz. Delta Company goes to Chu Lai for their Stand Down.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0700hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 11 and Observed Mission 1 for a total expended of 50 HE and 7 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0701hrs Recon Platoon we are moving out on our sweep. At 0802hrs 1-20 Infantry to Recon Platoon the PZ time is 0930hrs and the location is BS800477. At 0944hrs Recon Platoon reports the 1st PZ at grid BS795469 at 0858hrs and the 4th and last LZ at the Bud Pad at 0944hrs. At 2144hrs LZ Bronco received 1 incoming 60mm mortar round and we are on Phase 1 alert. Recon Platoon is located in the 1-20 Infantry area.
