Headquarters and Headquarter Company
February 24, 1968
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0925hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineers received small arms fire while trying to sweep road, 3 APC from E Troop on site to help Engineers. At 1430hrs MACV Major Smith some trouble at Bridge 106 between PF and US troops from E Troop. Military Police at 1450hrs closed on Bridge 106, with negative results all is quite.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
February 24, 1968
At 0401hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon made contact have US WHA hit with automatic weapons and small arms fire unable to get Dust Off in because of Visibility very poor and weapons fire at grid BS818290. At 0600hrs Alpha Company reports that Hudson, Robert and Sutton, Terry where both KHA. Alpha Company is now sweeping the contact area. SP4 ROBERT BENJAMIN HUDSON and PFC TERRY WAYNE SUTTON LISTED AS KHA. At 1000hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS803296. At 1530hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS801406. At 2030hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS802299.
Bravo Company
February 24, 1968
At 0935hrs Bravo Company is at BS788385 and conducted a Search and Destroy operation to BS801406. At 1530hrs Bravo Company reports their location at BS801406. At 2030hrs Bravo Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS843383 with an ambush at BS833396.
Charlie Company
February 24, 1968
At 0935hrs Charlie Company reports their location at BS705900 and received small arms fire results was 1 US WHA Dust Off has been called at this time, SP4 James H. Emerson. At 1215hrs Charlie Company Searching Loc Son village found some VC documents and evidence that people had been living there. Requested permission from District Chief to burn village, are burning it now. At 1735hrs Charlie Company found bag with assorted tools at BS689889 and moved into their Night Defense Position at BS688888 by 1850hrs. SP4 James H Emerson attached to 2nd Surgical Hospital Chu Lai.
Delta Company
February 24, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. Delta Company will use multiple Patrolling and some saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1315hrs Delta Company at BS867321 found empty tunnel and destroyed. At 2010hrs Delta 3rd Platoon at BS883304 reports 1 man fell in hole and has injury, will go to Bridge 105, E Troop was notified that the patrol would be at their location, will then signal with flashlight when approaching position. At 2030hrs Delta Company reports Delta Company and 2nd Platoon on LZ Thunder with 1st Platoon on Bridges, and 3rd Platoon ambush at BS845383.
Echo Company
February 24, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 1000hrs Recon reports their location at LZ Thunder. At 2030hrs Recon reports their ambush locations at BS888295 and BS894285.
