Forward Area: (1-20 Infantry Headquarters) is located at LZ Liz and continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0805hrs LATE SPOT Primo 5 on the way to Hill 411 will be late by about 10 minutes. At 0815hrs Primo 5 going to Quang Ngai, Engine Oil by pass light came on, will shut down and check it out. At 0950hrs Primo 5 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 0950hrs LATE SPOT 26 Engineers, while working on the LZ Liz Access road, were shown 1 8" round, 1 M-79 round and 2 ½ sections of Bangalore torpedoes. Paid 1 Vietnamese child 370 piasters and the rounds destroyed. At 1143hrs Primo 5 is breaking station at this time. At 1415hrs S-4 reports Dolphin 284 is on station for resupply. Legend: 1st Platoon 83-88, 2nd Platoon 33-38, 3rd Platoon 03-08, 4th Platoon 63-68 and CO 09.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Bravo Company

At 0942hrs Bravo Company near OP Frag vicinity BS753568 requested Dust Off for member of PF 143, Dust Off completed at 1000hrs. The Bravo Company reports 3rd Platoon with 1st Platoon of PF 143 while moving from the west to the east toward OP Frag vicinity BS753568 took sniper fire from south vicinity BS744568, resulting in 1 PF wounded in lower stomach by bullet, completed at 1000hrs. At 1330hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon vicinity BS741453 detained 1 Vietnamese male age 40-45 at first the Kit Carson Scout felt he was a possible VC late was released. About 30 minute later the 2nd Platoon believed their new detainee wearing all back, has scars on both legs, he ID is hand written and mutilated is possible VC and will be extracted to LZ Liz. At 2000hrs Bravo 3rd Platoon vicinity BS753568 observed 1 of their Mechanical Ambushes detonate approximately 5 minutes later they heard voices and saw a light at that location. Sent an element to check it out, found a set of drag marks for about 50 meters then disappeared. We will check area again in the morning. At 2112hrs 3rd Platoon received 10-15 rounds small arms automatic fire in their Night Defense Position. The fire was from one weapon about 300 meters to the north and hit the OP at one of the RF positions, the RF requesting Artillery through their channels.

Delta Company

Delta Company will continue to use Multiple Patrols and use ambushes in their Area of Operation. At 0810hrs Delta Company Command Post, 2nd and 4th Platoon in Patrol Base at BS758393, 1st and 3rd Platoon in Patrol Base at BS757386. At 1147hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon Patrol is at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS762396. At 1340hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon closed vicinity BS757386. At 2000hrs Delta Company Command Post 2nd 4th Platoon BS758393 with 3rd Platoon ambushes BS757388, BS753383, 2nd Platoon ambushes BS754399 and 1st platoon ambush BS757388, BS754386. Delta Company reports SP4 Dennis K. Knutson was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon will continue their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
