Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0600hrs 1-20 Infantry Command Massage given to companies "Don’t Supply (Charlie) police up". At 0805hrs 11 Brigade to 1-20 Infantry on 20 Aug 69 an unidentified company of the 38th Battalion, strength 100 men, well armed appeared and dispersed at Phouc-My at BS703556. Company Command Post was located about 200 meters west of the railroad in Mr Tam’s house. 1-20 Infantry requests following demo for Thiep Son Hamlet, from the Rear at LZ Bronco. At 1132hrs LZ Liz from S-3 Daily mine sweep time is now changed from 0730hrs to 0700hrs each morning inform Charlie Company. At 1730hrs Helix 331 Bomb Damage Assessment on Air Strike at grid BS802460, 7 secondary fire, 1 small secondary explosion, 2 small bunkers destroyed and trench line covered up. Bravo Company reports RF informed Bravo our 85 snake element, that LZ Max and LZ Liz is going to be hit tonight.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. Battalion Forward request the following demo for Thiep Son Hamlet 20 40 pound shape charges, 20 catering charges, 3 cases of C-4, 2 boxes of non-electric blasting caps, 2 rolls of time fuse and 2 rolls of detonated cord. At 0845hrs LZ Bronco is on Yellow Alert at this time received a few rockets outside the perimeter and return to White Alert at 0906hrs. At 1033hrs Charlie Company 19 Engineer at BS 908149 reports 5 Ton detonated mine on access road to LZ Lowboy with results windshield out and flat tire. At 1817hrs LZ Bronco is now back on Yellow Alert received 1 140mm rocket. At 2350hrs LZ Bronco reports we are on Yellow Alert. One of the sectors received incoming rounds, possible rockets.
Alpha Company

At 0640hrs Alpha Company 87 element closed on Night Defense Position and at 0745hrs Command and Control helicopter Dust Off our injured man.
Bravo Company
August 24, 1969
At 0400hrs Bravo Company 2 NVA/VC with packs at BS780437 engaged them and will check at first light. Bravo Company checking contact site at first light and found 1 NVA KIA with pistol belt, 1 Chi Com grenade and 1 Pack of Rice. At 0905hrs Bravo Company at Day Logger grid BS778447. The 84 element is starting operation with little people and at 0955hrs at their objective (BS774469). At 1108hrs Bravo Company 84 element and little people closed on the Red Ball. At 1625hrs Bravo Company 84 will Recon in Force to BS865450, the 85 element set snake BS770464 and the 52 snake at BS784430 remain in position till 2400hrs. If nothing develops they will move to BS786423 and nothing develops at this location by 0300hrs they will move back to compound. At 1945hrs Bravo Company moving out of Night Defense Position and by 2015hrs moving into new Night Defense Position at BS776440. At 2120hrs the 44 is now moving out and at 2130hrs the RF informed the 85 snake element that LZ Max and LZ Liz is going to be hit tonight.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road. At 1027hrs Charlie Company is moving out for short patrol to check out Ville where convoy received sniper fire.
Delta Company
August 24, 1969
At 0630hrs Delta Company is moving out of the Night Defense Position, to Day logger location at BS724437. Delta Company requested a routine Dust off, for one case of possible malaria, Williams. Dust off completed at 1125hrs. Delta Company moved into Night Defense Position at BS712434, 85 and 45 snake in position by 2050hrs. Delta Company also reports SGT Bruce R. Moore was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital sick.
Echo Company

Echo Company Headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 Platoon reports Defense Targets 1, Observe Mission 14 total expend 100 HE 5 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon has Security Mission for LZ Liz.
