Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0020hrs MACV Mo Duc RF 103 at 2016hrs on 23 April VC Point squad ran into a RF Ambush vicinity grid BS773465, RF were reinforce with 1 Platoon as were the VC. However VC and their reinforcements engaged each other and ended up evading to the southeast, negative friendly casualties and 1 VC CIA. At 0415hrs Alpha Company has 3 Mechanical Ambushes out and Bravo Company has 4 Mechanical Ambushes out at the present time. At 0450hrs 1-20 Infantry 1-20 Infantry Saber 40 has completed Box 66 with negative results, broke station. At 0725hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 15 is on station for re supply. At 0725hrs Warlord 30 is on station to check 1st Light Visual Recon. At 0755hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 36 is on station and Warlord 30 diverted from the 1 Light Visual Recon to grid of contact. At 0800hrs 1-20 Infantry to Bravo Company from S-3 In effect day 25: Area of Operation boundary change Area of Operation Yellow now bounded by BS6947, BS7347, BS7340, BS6940, and BS3947. Delta Company to operate Area of Operation BS7053, BS7352, BS7347, BS70747 and BS7053, Delta Company to conduct a Combat Assault on 25 0800hrs April. At 0750hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon at BS719412, while conducting a sweep of last nights sighting, the 3rd Platoon encountered and unknown size enemy force, they received AK 47 fire from the south. Helix 36 came on station at 0825hrs and Warlord 30 diverted from 1st Light Recon at 0810hrs. At 0822hrs Helix 36 called blocking fires in the south. Bravo 3rd Platoon is presently sweeping the hill, results at present time, negative enemy and negative friendly. At 0817hrs Primo 4 is on station at this time. At 0840hrs LZ Liz Access Road is now open. At 0947hrs Warlord 30 is on station for APD Box 177. At 0920hrs Dolphin 15 has broken station. At 0952hrs Primo 4 has broken station. At 0956hrs Helix 36 has broken station. At 1015hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord 30 has broken station. At 1050hrs Hercules15 is on station at this time and at 1100hrs has completed 3 sorties and broken station. At 1140hrs 1-20 Infantry to Alpha and Bravo Companies from S-3: Old ARVN or US positions will not be reused as Patrol Bases or Night Defense Position under any circumstance. These areas will be avoided, as they are normally heavily booby trap. At 1250hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 39 is on station at this time and broke station at 1310hrs. At 1415hrs Helix 35 is on station at this time. At 1700hrs 1-20 Infantry to the Brigade S-3, from the 1-20 Infantry S-3 Reference Fire Support Base defense area and Area of Operations boundaries: 1. LZ Liz Defense Area is 4 kilometers radius from Fire Support Base. 2. Alpha Company Area of Operations BS6455, BS6755, BS6753, BS7053, BS7050, BS6450, Effective 25 0001 April 1971. Bravo Company Area of Operation bound by BS6947, BS7347, BS7340, BS6940, BS6947, effective 25 0001 April 1971. Delta Company bound by BS7053, BS7352, BS7347, BS7047, BS7053, effective 25 0001 April 1971. At 1910hrs 1-20 Infantry to Alpha and Bravo Companies from S-3, Keep units spread out from each other, Platoons are bunching together, take immediate corrective action. At 2200hrs TMF Fire Mission at 2147hrs String 295, Target A has 2 to 3 personnel moving east to west at 3 miles per hour with negative metal confirmation and engaged at 2156hrs with 10 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 2233hrs Alpha and Bravo Company called by S-3 who requested # of Mechanical Ambushes out, Alpha had 8 and Bravo Company has 4 Mechanical Ambushes out. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company conducted some patrols but mostly Daylight ambushes in their Area of Operation today. At 0945hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS679534. At 1650hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving out to BS674518. At 1930hrs Alpha Company night locations Command Post 2nd 4th Platoons in Night Defense Position at BS680540, 2nd Platoon ambush at BS679532, 3rd Platoon Ambush at BS667537, 1st Platoon in Night Defense Position at BS682519, 1st Platoon ambush at BS661514 and Alpha Company has 8 Mechanical Ambushes out tonight. At 1932hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon at BS680510 found a suspected minefield, about 200 meters square with 6 scarecrows with have signs stating mine field keep out. Arty Fire Mission called in to Destroyed the area and hopefully set off mines in the area.
Bravo Company

At 0415hrs Bravo Company has 4 Mechanical Ambushes out at present. At 0730hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon has reach their Patrol Base at BS723416 and 3rd Platoon Patrol is moving out to vicinity BS719412. At 0750hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon and Command Post in Patrol Base vicinity BS728464. At 0750hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon at BS719412, while conducting a sweep of last nights sighting, the 3rd Platoon encountered an UNSEF. They received AK 47 from the south, Helix 36 come on station at 0754hrs and Warlord 30 diverted from 1st light Visual Recon. At 0810hrs Shark 9 on station to relieve Warlord 30, Warlord broke station at 0825hrs. At 0822hrs Helix 36 called blocking fire to the south, 3rd Platoon is presently sweeping the hill, results at present time, negative enemy, negative friendly. At 1004hrs Bravo Company at BS719412, while conducting sweep, the 3rd Platoon located 1 bunker. It was 1 month old, 20’ deep, camouflaged and located at the side of a trail. Bunkers probably used for ammo storage. At 1030hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 3 vicinity BS679534. At 1157hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon Patrol closed on BS728464. At 1827hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon Night Defense Position is at BS726407, and 1905hrs Command Post and 1st Platoon moving to BS728454 and 2nd and 4th Platoon to BS713454. To Company Bravo from S-3 Keep units spread out from each other Platoons are bunching together take immediate corrective actions. At 1935hrs Bravo Company report night locations Command Post and 1st Platoon at BS728454, 2nd Platoon to BS723448, and 3rd Platoon at BS727407.

Delta Company continued their Security Mission at LZ Liz and Road Security. At 2035hrs Delta Company Access Road Security sighted 1 person, 250 meters away vicinity grid BS764427, engaged with small arms fire.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0645hrs Recon Platoon is moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS755396. At 0658hrs Recon made split, are now in 2 elements. At 1105hrs Recon all elements have linked up at Patrol Base vicinity BS755396. At 1134hrs Recon all elements is moving out for LZ Liz and at 1355hrs all elements have closed on LZ Liz.
