Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0728hrs Warlord Lead we spotted a group of 8 military age youths at grid BS785453, we are making a snatch and will bring them in today. At 2300hrs 174th Fire Fly from 2200hrs to 2300hrs 1-20 and 4-21 Infantry begin at mouth of Son Tra Cau, to mouth of Song Cau, then northwest to intersection of Highway 1 and highway 515. Then southeast along Son Tra Cau River to highway 1 south to BS823344, southwest along ridge line to BS810310,east to BS835305 then north to BS840390, east to BS837393, south west to BS829375 and west to Highway 1. At 1600hrs 1-20 Infantry Report on rice harvesting at grid BS8042, only 75 refugees showed up (instead of 300) and they arrived at 1000hrs and quit work at 1140hrs. They did not harvest, but took rice out of nearby huts and each refugee carried away 20 to 100 pounds of rice. At 1640hrs Helix 33 PAC Air Strike going into BS798480 and at 1710hrs Bomb Damage Assessment 2 structures destroyed, 2 bunkers destroyed, and 2 to 3 sustained fires, a few structure damaged. At 0720hrs Helix 33 FAC Air Strike going into BS803482 and at 1735hrs Bomb Damage Assessment on BS803483, 4 hootches destroyed, 5 hootches damaged and worked over hedgerow.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0127hrs LZ Bronco at 2125hrs received 3 rounds of 122mm rockets, 1 impacted on the southeast side of the hill and the other 2 hit 500 meters off the perimeter at BS826377 with negative casualties or damage. At LZ Bronco PP/SI-5 at 0130hrs at BS832363 picked up 10 persons and engaged with 20 rounds 81mm Mortar and 10 rounds of 105 Artillery.
Alpha Company
September 23, 1969
At 0650hrs Alpha Company is head toward their Day Logger Position. At 1740hrs Alpha Company is located at BS735465 which is their Day Logger and used saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1025hrs Alpha the 31 and 01 elements have closed on the Day Logger. At 1545hrs the 35 element is moving out to check out location for possible Night Defense Position site. At 2100hrs Alpha Company set up their Night Defense Position at BS732460 with 76 located at BS726475 with snake location at BS728464.
Bravo Company
September 23, 1969
At 0735hrs Bravo Company 67 ranger element will be on Combat patrol in the same area as our Search and Clear Operation yesterday. At 0836hrs Bravo Company in our location at grid BS802417 our 61 element received a few rounds of sniper fire from their rear and returned fire with negative results. Continued to search and received sniper fire from one of the flanks and returned fire with negative results. At 1350hrs Bravo Company our 61 and 01 elements have closed on Day Logger Position. At 1140hrs Bravo Company location is at BS735465 and by 1605hrs Bravo Company is BS802422. At 1927hrs at BS800429 moving into their Night Defense Position received 3 to 4 rounds of sniper fire from southwest with negative casualties or damage. Bravo Company reports they are in their Night Defense Position at BS800429, 33 at BS795406 and 32 at BS773457.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road. At 0625hrs Charlie Company the 46 snake has closed at this time.
Delta Company
September 23, 1969
Delta Company at 1430hrs Combat Assault 1st PZ 1445hrs and last LZ at 1530hrs and at 1605hrs Delta Company is at BS758437. At 2020hrs Delta Company reports snakes are moving out on Access Road in position at 2100hrs.
Echo Company
September 23, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0610hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission 3 and Defense Target 2 for a total expended 31 HE and 2 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0555hrs Recon is now moving to our Day Logger. At 0656hrs Recon we are located at our Day Logger. At 0800hrs Recon Platoon report their location at BS783433 as their Day Logger with Snake 24 and Command Post at BS773453, snake 74 and 44 elements is at BS779438. At 2100hrs Recon Platoon report their night locations Recon BS773435, 31 & 61 is at BS779438.
