Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1550hrs Artillery Destruction Mission started at 1021hrs and ended at 1224hrs fired 200 155mm rounds, 103 8" rounds with results 90% destruction. At 1745hrs Ship on station to extract rice from Bravo Company extraction completed at 1659hrs. At 2300rhs Brigade message concerning storm warning on typhoon Kate: previously off the course. It is now 500-600 nautical miles east northeast of Chu Lai, moving west at 6 knots. 24 Corps has declared a condition 3 effective immediately. Do not step up DRCC but be prepared to do so, Confirmation will follow. At 2320hrs TMF Fire Mission time called 2315hrs String 72, Target B station personnel with metal confirmed, negative clearance due to proximity of friendly. Legend 1st Platoon 03-08, 2nd Platoon 53-58, 3rd Platoon 83-88, 4th Platoon 63-68 and CO 43.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company the 53 element is moving to BS758568, 83 moving out to BS779527, 03 moving out to BS760557. At 1245hrs Alpha Company had 4 females walk into Patrol Base at grid BS757578. All had negative ID and wearing black and white clothing (names Available), will back haul to Military Intelligence. At 2250hrs Alpha Company 53 are in their Night Defense Position at BS760565, 85 at BS768526, 86 at BS736620, 55 at BS754562, 05 at BS757583, and 03, 63, 43 at location BS759584.
Bravo Company

At 0955hrs Bravo Company 43 has 1 female, 23, no ID at grid BS743558, picked up evading to the north. At 1050hrs Bravo Company 03 received 1 60mm round at grid BS739567 from suspected location grid BS745575, landed about 60 meters outside patrol base Artillery was put into enemy grid with negative results. At 1409hrs Bravo Company has 3 females detainee dressed in black ages 21, 25, 23, no ID, at grid BS745545, were carrying rice West (about 200 pounds among them) will back haul to Military Intelligence. At 1515hrs the 06 element found one RPG (B40) in the open by a trail, in good condition, grid BS728573, blown in place. At 1600hrs Bravo Company has 1600 pounds of rice, unpolished, good condition, locally grown buried in baskets, bowls, tin cans, found at grid BS743557 in bunkers and hootches. Most of the rice found above ground (only 200 pounds buried) extracted to MACV.
Charlie Company

At 1155hrs Charlie Company the 05 element is moving to BS752620 with 86 is moving to BS719636 and 87 closed on BS722638. At 1215hrs Charlie Company 53 element found one booby trap consisting of a homemade frag grenade with a small can, full of explosives, with a smoke grenade cap on it with a safety pin in hole. It was put in hedgerow so any movement in brush would make pin fall out and fount it at grid BS728610 and blown in place. At 1445hrs Charlie Company 53 element had 1 RF hit a booby trap at grid BS725609, the Booby trap was a canister 79 round set up in ground so you step on it and a nail was driven into primer and canister went off. He has slight wounds to leg and was picked up by re supply bird and taken to LZ Bronco. (NUGUYEN THAUH TU) 24 years old was the WIA RF and with unit Ughia Quair RF # 160. At 1645hrs Charlie 05 and 07 has closed on BS750622. At 1650hrs Charlie Company 07 element while walking into Ville, saw people take down Vietnamese Flag and raise a white flag, also a sign stating there were booby traps in area, found on a trail at grid BS750628. At 1737hrs Charlie Company 53 element received 6 to 10 rounds sniper fire at grid BS728605 from 300 meters to their northwest, proceeding to grid BS732606, engaged with small arms and Artillery and checked area with negative finding. At 2248hrs Charlie Company reports 06 in location at BS753627, 07 at BS757625 and 55 at BS720609.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Echo Company
October 23, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0655hrs Recon Platoon closed on LZ Liz and they continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
