Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0815hrs 26th Engineer we found a 155 round buried at BS763437 on the access road, we blew it in place. At 0816hrs helix we are pitting in a Air Strike at BS80462 rockets and 20mm. At 1100hrs Charlie Company conducts a Combat Assault to BS805493 1st PZ 1100hrs and last LZ is at 1154hrs. At 1340hrs Headquarters and Headquarter Company 39 Engineer reports at BS785518, Dozer detonated Booby trap round with no casualties or damage, checked the area and found 3 105 rounds booby trap and destroyed. Alpha Company continued their Security Mission with the Gaza Strip Operations.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company

At 1000hrs Alpha Company 13 element is at BS777547, 93 at BS789428 and 73 at BS788503. At 1807hrs Alpha Company reports 210 areas were cleared for the day and they continue their Security Mission for Clearing Operation.
Bravo Company
October 23, 1969
Bravo Company will working with the Vietnamese using sweep and clear and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0850hrs at grid BS774430 the operation this morning we were clearing by fire across a stream a grenade was thrown and personnel were slightly injured. Names (Stensguard) with frag in hand, (Nials) with frag in the calf, and (Kamio) with a frag in the shoulder. At 1533hrs Bravo Company at BS783433 found 1 Vietnamese female age 10 wounded by sniper fire, Dust Off completed at 1540hrs. I believe SP4 James H. Kamio JR was one of the WIA, still searching.
Charlie Company
October 23, 1969
Combat Assault for Charlie Company to grid BS805493 and the rest of Charlie Company moving to our Night Defense Position site at 2109hrs. Charlie Company at grid BS837428 the 93 element is 500 meters from our proposed Night Defense Position when they received Automatic weapons fire, estimate enemy strength at 3 men and at this time broke contact and closed on the Night Defense Position.
Delta Company
October 23, 1969
At 0415hrs Delta Company is moving from Night Defense Position. At 0550hrs Delta Company called for a routine Dust Off we have a man with dislocated knee, he cannot walk, so the 15 element is staying with him BS762416 (Foster) completed at 0705hrs. At 0615hrs Delta Company at the Base Forward and starting our sweep. At 0830hrs we are now at LZ Liz and taking over Security Mission of LZ Liz. At 1945hrs Delta Company all snakes are in location. I believe it was PFC James L. Foster that was injury.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0540hrs 4.2 Platoon reports 10 Supporting Missions total expend 20 HE. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0915hrs Recon 1st PZ at 0847hrs and the last LZ was at 1914hrs.
