Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0011hrs Alpha Company Bunker line SSGT Blue checked bunkers 17, 1 and 2 all satisfactory. At 0320hrs Radar on South OP sighted 15 to 20 packs moving east vicinity BS824459, requested Saber Black from Brigade, Saber Black is on station at 0330hrs, clearance free fire Duc Pho upper left BS8147 and lower Right BS8345, VER. At 0430hrs LZ Liz Bunker line Inspection, Bunkers 1, 17, 16 and 15 all OK, except no all of the people in LT Sprayberry Platoon have gas masks. At 0440hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line bunkers 14,15 and16 inspected SSGT Blue. At 0951hrs LZ Liz Access Road is now clear. At 1002hrs TO Delta Company FROM S-3: reminder that Resupply Air craft to be used for helicopter lift of Recon to LZ Secured by Delta Company 1st Platoon, Time of insertion at 1500hrs Recon to work west. At 1555hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 26 is on station for resupply. At 1636hrs 1-20 Infantry IOS spotted 7 VC/NVA males carrying what looked like 1 GI tied in a hammock to a pole. Dolphin 26 resupply bird was dispatched to check out the area. At 1640hrs Warlords scrambled to assist. Dolphin 26 spotted 2 VC/NVA cover themselves with grass and 2 more evade into a tree line. At 1655hrs Primo 6 is assisting in search. At 1720hrs Dolphin 26 broke station for fuel. At 1800hrs Warlords inserted Animals at BS684581. At 1808hrs IOS spotted 2 VC/NVA with weapons in rice paddy evading into tree line, Warlords engaged area with mini-guns. At 1839hrs Warlords inserted Animals at BS681583 after spotting 1 VC/NVA covering up a bunker, Animals found bunker complex shortly after insertion. 10 Bunkers were found approximately 4’ X 6’ and very recently used. Bunkers were destroyed. Also found were 1 poncho bag with toilet articles, 2 NVA uniforms, medical supplies, 1 pair Ho Chi Minh sandals. These findings were extracted to Chu Lai, and at 1910hrs Animals were extracted also at 1915hrs Warlords broke station. At 1830hrs Dolphin 26 broke station at this time. At 1936hrs LZ Max vicinity BS757470 Message relay 1 routine Dust Off requested for 1 US smashed finger stitches probably needed. He was loading water can and smashed finger against water trailer, Dust Off Bird # 88 completed at 2045hrs. At 1943hrs TMF String 67 Target B has unknown number of stationary personnel with metal confirmation and received negative clearance Code II at 1945hrs. At 2039hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Bravo 5, Charlie 3, Delta 4 and Recon 1 for a total of 13 out. At 2120hrs Saber 44 is on station to work NH Box 63, at 2142hrs grid BS7534131 have 2 possible, personnel fresh footprints into thicket, Saber fired up area. Saber 44 at 2215hrs into NH Box 69 negative findings, broke station at 2244hrs. At 2128hrs TMF activation on String 67 target B, metal confirmed with unknown # of stationary personnel with negative clearance Code II. At 2213hrs Alpha Company LT Craft checked bunkers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 13, 14, 15, 16 all satisfactory and LT Neuendorf checked bunkers 15, 16, 17 and 1 all found satisfactory. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0011hrs Alpha Company Bunker line SSGT Blue checked bunkers 17, 1 and 2 all satisfactory. At 0430hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line inspection OK except not all the people in LT Sprayberry Platoon have gas masks. At 0440hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line Inspected bunkers 14, 15 and16 inspected SSGT Blue. At 1300hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon while on patrol to check TMF strings vicinity BS758425 found 1 booby trap can of Petna with trip wire device across a trail blew it in place. At 2213hrs Alpha Company LT Craft checked bunkers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15 and 16 all satisfactory and LT Neuendorf checked bunkers 15, 16, 17 and 1 all found satisfactory.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0755hrs Bravo Company Command Post bought 2 M-7 rounds from 1 Vietnamese male, age11, paid him 2 cans C Rations blew in place. At 0855hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon while checking out Mechanical Ambush detonated vicinity grid BS706439 at 1850hrs found 2 NVA KIA and 1 M-1 carbine and 1 AK 47 CIA. Also have 4 Chi Com, 2 NVA rucksacks, 3 magazine ammo and about 1 pound of documents and some food. All intelligence will be back hauled to LZ Liz. The 2 KIA were male, 22 to 25, both wearing all green uniforms, 1 had a pit helmet, also had sandals. At 2027hrs Bravo Company all elements in their Night Defense Position Command Post with 3rd Platoon at BS739437, 1st and 4 Platoons at BS723446 with 2nd Platoon at BS727437 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0835hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon patrol vicinity BS635555 found 1 81 HE round with safety pin and charge, not set up as a booby trap, just tying there was blown in place. At 1509hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon requests Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with 105 temp Line #360 Barrett, Fred Jr. Bird # 88, Dust Off at 1525hrs. At 2035hrs Charlie Company Night Defense Position Command Post, 2nd Platoon at BS639563 with 2nd Platoon ambush at BS635565, 1st Platoon at BS656544, 1st Platoon ambush at BS654545 and 1st Platoon at Nui Vong. SP4 Fred J. Barrett was attached to 91st Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

Delta Company used Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0640hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon in their Patrol Base vicinity BS697528. At 0713hrs Delta Company Command Post, 3rd, 4th Platoons in their Patrol Base at BS715510. At 0719hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS727489. At 1002hrs TO Delta Company FROM S-3: reminder that Resupply Air craft to be used for helicopter lift of Recon to LZ Secured by Delta Company 1st Platoon, Time of insertion at 1500hrs Recon to work west. At 2016hrs Delta Company all elements in their Night Defense Position Command Post, 3rd and 4th Platoons at BS716513, 1st Platoon at BS694524 and 2nd Platoon at BS724477 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1925hrs Recon will be staying in Night Defense Position with Delta Company 1st Platoon in Delta Company 1st Platoon Night Defense Position. At 2018hrs Recon reports their element in Night Defense Position at BS694524.
