Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0100hrs 1-20 Infantry TMF String 71 was activated by 5 personnel is moving north to south with metal confirmed. The target will not be shot due to check fire from LZ Dragon. At 0430 Radar Targets at 1945hrs sighted 7 to 8 stationary personnel at 781492 and engaged with 10 He of 155 artillery and at 2030hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at 739424 and engaged with, 1 VT round 155 artillery. At 2310hrs 15 stationary personnel wee sighted at 739487 and engaged with 9 HE of 4.2 mortar. At 0140hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at 784487 and engaged with 7 HE of 105 artillery. At 0410hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were engaged at 732397 with 6 HE of 105 artillery. At 0535hrs the North OP spotted movement at 764429 and fired 81mm mortar into the area. Artillery on LZ Liz thought they received sniper fire from the same area. The Alpha Company access road snake will check the area with negative finding. At 0550hrs Artillery on LZ Liz 5 to 10 rounds of sniper fire were received from the tree line at 764433. They engaged the area with 81mm mortar and Alpha Company had negative findings in checking the area. At 0930hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry we are providing security at 760532. At 1342hrs Hurricane 433 we received small arms fire from 739567 with the sharks checking it out with negative findings. Charlie 26 Engineer 17 acres were cleared in the area of 763532 and 755535 with a total of 30 hours and 500 gallons used. We destroyed 1 155 round with a release type device, 1 anti personnel mine with no marking but looked like a M14. We have 4 D7 operations and 2 CEV operational, 1 D7 deadline with radiator trouble and 1 down for maintenance. At 2010hrs Radar sighted 3 to 5 stationary personnel at 820433 with Bravo Company informed. At 2010hrs Radar the North OP sighted 3 to 5 personnel east to west on the access road with negative clearance by Alpha Company. At 2040hrs Brigade there will be friendly boats along the coast. At 2030hrs North OP spotted movement at 773427 with 5 to 6 personnel moving west with Alpha Company and Bravo Company. At 2100hrs North OP Radar has sighed 3 to 4 lights in a friendly Ville with negative clearance grid 747435. At 2101hrs TMF at 726471 we have an unknown number of people with metal detected, 4 (firecracker) of 155 artillery rounds. At 2125hrs South OP we request an urgent Dust Off for 1 US with a 103 temp. Negative pickup and advised to keep him cool until morning.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2136hrs Bravo Company Base Defense girds of 8349 and 8449 were cleared. At 2243hrs TMF String 71 detected 6 personnel with metal moving north to south and engaged with 15 HE of 155 Artillery rounds and 4 (firecracker) of 155 artillery rounds. At 2400hrs Radar sighed at 782492 10 to 12 stationary personnel with Recon being informed.
Alpha Company
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0535hrs The North OP spotted movement at 764429 and fired 81mm into the area. Artillery on Liz thought they received sniper fire from the same area. Alpha Company access road snake will check the area and they found negative finding. At 0550hrs Artillery on LZ Liz received 5 to 10 rounds of sniper fire from the tree line at 764433, and engaged the area with 81mm and Alpha Company had negative finding in the checking the area. At 1425hrs Alpha Company we had 2 personnel on bunker 18 working on devices for Mechanical Ambushes and had a blasting cap accidentally go off resulting in multiple scratches to the left side of SSG Conover and one scratches on SFC Mattos. At 1940hrs Alpha Company all the access road patrols are in location. At 2020hrs Alpha Company the 06 element had a mechanical ambush detonated and the 84 element is checking it out and had negative finding. At 2125hrs South OP we requested an urgent Dust Off for 1 US with 103 temp, instructed to keep it cool till morning and then will Dust Off.
Bravo Company
Bravo Company continued to work with the ARVN Forces and will use multiple patrolling, sweep operations and Day Ambushes in their Area of Operation. At 0550hrs Bravo Company reports the 06 element has closed with negative finding. AT 0650hrs Bravo Company the 07 element will be at 787443 and moving out and the 24 element is moving out to 773435. At 0740hrs Bravo Company the 24 element is at checkpoint 3 at 773435, the 04 element is at checkpoint 1 at 790435 and the 25 element is moving out to 773445. At 0740hrs Bravo Company the 24 element has closed on 778445, the 25 element is moving to 773445, the 79 element is at 787443 and the 04 element, is at checkpoint 3 at 804452. At 0820hrs Bravo Company the 79 element is at 797428 where they found 2 M-16 empty magazines and one US shovel. At 0840hrs the 79 element same area found 1 VC female WIA in a tunnel at 797428 (About 3 KM east of LZ Liz) who was wearing a green top, black bottom with no ID and aged 20 to 25. A Male VC KIA was also found as a result of a claymore detonating along with some frag (the woman was wounded in the same incident). The female died later of wounds she received. At 1025hrs we requested an Urgent Dust Off for 2 US who hit a booby trap hand frag with trip wire, completed at 1035hrs. CPT Parker was treated and released and his RTO will be kept for observation. At 1210hrs Bravo Company the 04 and 17 elements are closed on 783433. At 1745hrs Bravo Company we request a routine dust off for 1 RF with the 27 element 1 RF with the 27 element who was walking point for the element and tripped a trip wire with a hand frag attached. He has frag wounds to the chest, legs and arms grid 785450 eta 10 minutes and completed at 1755hrs. At 1830hrs Bravo Company the 26 element has closed on 771461 and the 37 element has closed on 778445. At 2136hrs Bravo Company will have multiple ambushes out and their Base Defense grids of 8349 and 8449 were cleared.
Charlie Company

At 0826hrs Charlie Company all elements have closed on Command Post and provide security for Delta Company PZ and continued to work on their rice collection mission.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued to use multiple patrolling and sweep operations in their Area of Operation. At 0827hrs Delta Company the 22 element is checking out the area of the fire came from last night with negative finding and the 42 and 62 elements are moving to pick up site. Delta Company where are you? (I believed to be in LZ Bronco for their Stand Down).
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2
Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission 1 for a total expended of 9 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1730hrs Recon Platoon we are off the Red Ball and moving to our location.
