Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0630hrs Duc Pho 172 RF Platoon reported hearing enemy propaganda coming from Van Truong. The propaganda broadcast described the heavy fighting at Khe Sanhn, and the massive victories obtained by the VC/NVA. In addition, they offered amnesty to the PF’s if they would surrender. ARVN artillery fired at the suspected grid and the PF fired LAW’s and automatic weapons at BS786436. At 1320hrs MACV Mo Duc, request Urgent Dust Off for 1 PF with traumatic amputation of foot from booby trap completed at 1330hrs Bird #82. At 1430hrs S-5 1-20 Infantry reports Med Cap is in location. At 1715hrs 1-20 Infantry reports AMC is on station for Combat Assault. At 1753hrs Minuteman 18 is on station for resupply. At 2040hrs Saber Black is on station to check Box 41, at 2105hrs spotted three bunkers with several bags inside, requested clearance, fired it up with negative findings. At 2140hrs Saber Black is breaking station for Duc Pho. Legend: 1st Platoon 33, 2nd Platoon 46, 3rd Platoon 22, 4th Platoon 09, CO-42.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 23, 1971
Alpha Company began saturation patrolling, and day ambushes in their Area of Operation. At 1930hrs Alpha Company Command Post spotted 6 VC/NVA at a distance of 1300 meters called in fire mission however it was given negative approval due to approximate of ARVN. Saber 75 was on station, he check area negative results. This information had been relayed to the 4 ARVN Regiment it is believed they will check the area in the morning. At 1955hrs Alpha Company reports their Night Locations Command Post 1st and 4th Platoon vicinity BS641534, 2nd platoon BS640564, and 3rd Platoon vicinity BS635558.
Bravo Company
March 23, 1971
Bravo Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling along with some Day light ambushes in their Area of Operation. At 1050hrs Bravo Company request priority Dust Off for 2 US 1 with bleeding rectum, and 1 with swollen glands and possible hernia Line # W8238, and line #S8293 completed at 1115hrs. At 1235rh Bravo Company Command Post with 4th and 2nd Platoon is moving out to link up with 1st and 3rd Platoons. At 1330hrs Bravo Company is moving to link up with the 1st and 3rd Platoon. At 1400hrs 3rd Platoon at grid BS656218 found 40 rounds of M-1 ammo wrapped in plastic hidden in a hollow palm tree and destroyed. At 1445hrs Bravo Company is moving out to vicinity BS656505.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company using patrol bases and will use saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0655hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon is closing on Command Post and 2nd Platoon at vicinity BS722450. At 0810hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon is moving out to vicinity BS703452. At 0925hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post is moving out for Patrol Base vicinity BS713452. At 2000hrs Charlie Company reports locations the Command Post with 2nd and 4th Platoons at BS711458, 1st Platoon at BS708448 with 1st Platoon ambush at BS703453, and 3rd Platoon BS717462 with ambush at BS718460.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz along with road security.
Echo Company
March 23, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0645hrs Recon is moving back to LZ Liz. At 0726hrs Recon has closed on LZ Liz at this time.
