Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1335hrs E Troop is at BS735426, 1st Platoon is at BS735434, and 3rd Platoon is at BS735426 and BS709428. At 1445hrs Bridge Commander arrived at LZ Liz at 1500hrs and left at 1515hrs. At 1600hrs Rolling Stone had contact at BS685420 where they spotted one person in khaki uniform with an AK47. He stepped out on a trail and evaded to the southeast, we are pursuing him.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 23, 1970
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz as they prepare to more out. At 0607hrs Alpha Company all elements have closed on LZ Liz. At 1240hrs we are moving to BS740410, the proposed Night Defense Position, from which we will have nine daylight patrols beginning at 1600hrs. At 1310hrs Alpha Company we need a routine Dust Off for one US with a twisted knee at BS750430 and completed at 1335hrs. At 1643hrs Alpha Company the 32 element is moving to BS793404, the 94 elements is moving to BS726404 and the 96 element is moving to BS734418. At 1723hrs Alpha Company reports 34 element is moving to BS732404, the 35 element is moving to BS739398, the 12 element is moving to BS746415, the 14 element is moving to BS746410 and the 95 element is moving to BS724412. At 1922hrs Alpha Company all elements have closed on our position except the 95 element which is staying in place. At 2110hrs Alpha Company the 95 element closed on BS774410.
Bravo Company
March 23, 1970
At 0840hrs Bravo Company 33 element is moving out to secure the land clearing at BS783416. At 1535hrs the 65 element is moving to BS775425, the 34 element is moving to BS777408, the 17 element is moving to BS820442 and 15 is moving to BS801430. At 1600hrs Bravo Company 66 pickup one male at BS800426, no ID, 35-40 turnover to MACV. At 1823 Bravo Company 66 request an Urgent Dust Off for one Vietnamese female with frag wounds to the buttocks as a result of a stray round of PF fire at BS771461, completed at 1830hrs.
Charlie Company

At 0717hrs Charlie Company we are moving out of our Night Defense Position to LZ Liz and closed by 0850hrs and getting ready to take over the Security Mission for LZ LIZ. At 1915hrs Charlie Company 14 element found torn green uniforms at grid BS748442, which appeared to be hit by the Air Strike.
Delta Company

At 0713hrs Delta Company reports their Day Logger is at BS757381 and the following patrols are moving out. The 62 to BS750390, the 63 to BS750370, 64 to BS765370, the 12 to BS770370, the 13 to BS780373 and the 14 element to BS770360. At 0925hrs Delta Company 13 lost their KAK codes for 22 to the 26th. They were not tied to the person and we checked out the area with negative results. The person responsible is line number 8B, it was lost on the afternoon on March 22 and TOC was notified 230925 March 1970 at grid BS745460. At 1145hrs Delta Company the 64 element has closed on BS757381 all elements have closed on the Day Logger. At 1725hrs Delta Company we are moving to our Night Defense Position to BS762363. At 1853hrs Delta Company is closing at BS768374 and the snakes are moving out. Delta Company reports 63 at BS779361, 64 at BS774368, 65 at BS772376, 13 at BS761383 14 at BS777389 and 15 at BS758392.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0700hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Schedule Fires 13, Observed Mission 1 and Defense Target 3 for a total expended of 38 HE, 7 WP and 40 Illumination. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0955hrs Recon Platoon we picked up 3 males, ages 25 to 40 and 2 females with one baby at grid BS742428. One male, age 49, was dressed in purple top and bottom, had an ID and is the brother of a tax collector. One male, age 50 wearing purple bottoms and white top had an ID and is a tax collector. One male age 55 with no ID was wearing gray bottoms and white top. The one female was wearing a white top and black bottoms (age 45) no ID and is the wife at the tax collector along with 220 to 250 pounds of rice was found. At 1305hrs Recon Platoon with tracks at BS735426 and are breaking for chow. At 1550hrs E Troop is at their Night Defense Position. They will move out from here at 240700 March 1970 to BS729464 where they will fire Artillery at 1000hs and move to BS728463 where they will fire their guns. Recon will check out the area. At 1610hrs E Troop 3rd Platoon and 1st Platoon is at BS734436 and moving. At 2134hrs E Troop we are in our Night Defense Position at BS715432.
