Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0005hrs Warlord Black into Nighthawk Box 60, was given free fire west of 80 gridline Ba To (LJS), Duc Pho (Oviatt) and 1-20 Infantry (RLR). At 0045hrs broke station with negative findings. At 0037hrs PF 147, while in ambush location vicinity BS719601 engaged an unknown size VC element results 1 PF KIA, 2 PF WIA, requested 1 Urgent Dust Off through LZ Snoopy, completed at 0050hrs to Duc Pho event at 2350hrs. At 0335hrs PF 181 at 0100hrs vicinity BS798380 made contact in ambush location with unknown size VC element, VC fired B 40 and M-79 into their location, PF returned fire with small arms fire with negative friendly or enemy casualties. At 0345hrs PF 182 at 0330hrs vicinity BS833353 VC fired 5 60mm mortar rounds and 10 M-79 rounds into PF compound with results: 3 PF WIA, enemy results unknown engaged with small arms fire and 20 HE rounds Artillery 105mm. At 0630hrs MACV Duc Pho, at 0535hrs Unknown size enemy force of VC fired 5 rounds 60mm mortar into the village at vicinity BS807377, returned fire on site BS795365 and BS798368 and engaged with mortars and 20 rounds Artillery 105mm with results of the incident were 2 civilians WIA. At 0909hrs Primo 5 is on station at this time. At 0949hrs LZ Liz Access Road is open at this time. At 0909hrs Primo 5 is on station at this time. At 1006hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 5 has broken station at this time. At 1040hrs Division Commander is at LZ Liz. At 1125hrs General McDonah arrived LZ Liz at 1040hrs while here discussed General Situation and the Drug Problem. At 1432hrs Command General and General Milloy is on LZ Liz at this time and departed LZ Liz at 1452hrs. At 1350hrs Warlord 20 is on station working boxes 51 and 52 fire for fire Americal Rules of engagement. At 1400hrs Major Milloy and General Gorowitz while at LZ Liz discussed the following: General Intelligence situation, Charlie Company, 70th NVA Battalion, also Supplies from An Ba through 515 Valley as opposed to Song Ve Valley and Mo Duc RF/PF operations-better. Major General Malloy asked about supplies, Health and Welfare items, Move projectors. The Battalion Commander response was no real problems except vehicle repair parts, small regular trousers and discussed low assigned strengths of US Battalions. At 1510hrs 1-20 Infantry re supply bird broke station at 1510hrs. At 1550hrs 1-4 ARVN Battalion at 0600hrs vicinity BS351483 made contact with 4 VC resulting in 4 VC KIA, CIA 1 Thompson machinegun, 4 rucksacks and 20 Chi Com grenades. At 1700hrs Primo 2 broke station at this time. At 1928hrs Nui Vong, IOS spotted 2 VC with packs and weapons vicinity BS683581, engaged with 18 rounds HE 81mm Mortar and 16 rounds of US tank fire. At 1935hrs 1-20 Infantry message to CPT Range: CPT Berdan may be able to get clearance for your planned operation with tracks. Need overlay and dates to get CPT Davis approval. At 1950hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 18 is on station at this time. At 1950hrs Warlord Blue is on station, request Box 60 clearance. Americal Rules of Engagements fire for fire, packs and weapons, evading and Visual Recon. At 2040hrs Warlord Blue into Nighthawk 60 with negative findings. At 2100hrs Warlord Blue into Nighthawk box 61, at 2150hrs out of 61 with negative findings. At 2205hrs Warlord Blue entered Nighthawk Box 64 at 2247hrs broke station with negative findings. At 2213hrs LZ Liz alert called at 2213hrs by detonation of red star cluster at bunker #1, 100% achieved at 2217hrs, alert reduced to 50% at 2232hrs. Red star cluster was accidentally fired in an effort to provide Illumination, negative enemy activity or sightings, Alert judged to be satisfactory. At 2240hrs Gia Vuc, request 1 Urgent Dust Off for 1 RF with self inflicted gunshot wound to stomach, Bird # 52, completed at 2315hrs taken to Duc Pho. At 2305hrs LZ Liz bunkers 7, 8, and 9 checked by LT Waugh, all found to be satisfactory. At 2315hrs LZ Liz expended during alert: 1.000 round M-60, 2110 rounds M-16, 91 rounds of M-79, 1 hand Illumination, 1 hand frag. Legend: 1st Platoon 17, 2nd Platoon 44, 3rd Platoon 56, 4th Platoon 23, CO-64.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the 1-20 Infantry.
Bravo Company
June 23, 1971
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco and the Brigade move North to LZ Dottie and the 4 Battalion of 21 Infantry returning home to the States.
Charlie Company
June 23, 1971
At 0736hrs Charlie Company moving to LZ Liz and at 0835hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon at LZ Liz at this time. At 0900hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon found 1 WP round 105mm and 1 HE 105mm round will blow in place and then closed on LZ Liz At 1040hrs General McDonah arrive LZ Liz and while here discussed General situation and Drug problems. At 1452hrs Commanding General and General Milloy left LZ Liz at this time. At 1100hrs Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2213hrs LZ Liz Alert and end at 2220hrs and judged satisfactory. At 2300hrs LZ Bunker line Bunkers 7, 8 and 9 were checked by LT Waugh and reported satisfactory.
Delta Company

Delta Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon moving off LZ Liz to BS735430 at this time and by 1353hrs closed on their Patrol Base at BS736429. At 1904hrs Delta Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon L elements is moving to Night Defense Position vicinity BS731424, 2nd Platoon ambush moving to location at BS724429 and at 1905hrs Dolphin 18 broke station at this time to re supply Delta Company with radio. At 2203hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon in Night Defense Position vicinity BS730424, Command Post and 2nd Platoon L element in Night Defense Position at BS727419.
Echo Company

Echo Company Headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0606hrs Recon is moving back to LZ Liz at this time. At 0730hrs Recon is closing back on LZ Liz at this time. At 1900hrs Recon is moving to Night Defense Position vicinity at BS767414 and closed on location at 2012hrs.
