Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1450hrs Helix 34 has a Air Strike going in at grid BS8124453.1-20 Infantry AJAX Alpha Company 74, Bravo Company 83, Charlie Company 85, Delta Company 86, 4.2 25, Recon 26. Helix 03 spotted about 8-10 people digging going down to investigate at BS794482.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company
July 23, 1969
At 0630hrs Alpha Company was moving to their Day Logger at BS724432 and the 83 element will check out general area. At 1905hrs Alpha Company moving into their Night Defense Position at BS737448, moving into the Night Defense Position we have a VCS that we picked up when we where moving in. She was question and she had information that VC Base Camp s at NUI DAT grid BS734472, requests to have her picked up in the morning. Alpha Company our 83 snake had contact with 2 VC/NVA, who were 40-50 meters outside the perimeter. The snake has pulled back to the Night Defense Position and we are going to put artillery on the area. We will check it out the area of contact at first light.
Bravo Company
July 23, 1969
At 0525hrs the Bravo Company 13 element and 83 elements are moving out at this time. Bravo Company 63 and 23 elements will remain in Night Defense Position at 0710hrs our present location BS814405 will be checking out area. At 0820hrs our 13 and 83 element and Command Post are checking area and moving west a few hundred meters along the river then will go back and join with our 63 and 23 element and move to our Day Logger BS783426. At 1945hrs Bravo Company closed on our Night Defense Position at BS847407 and the 14 snake will be at BS843410 and the 17 snake both in position at 2245hrs.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0605hrs Charlie Company 83 element has just moved out and by 0755hrs the 83 element is located at BS764434. At 0900hrs has the element closed on LZ Liz.
Delta Company
July 23, 1969
At 0815hrs Delta Company the 63 and 13 element has moved out on their sweep area around grid BS837415. At 0955hrs the 63 and the 13 element moving back to rejoin the Company and at 1130hrs our day logger location BS844415. At 2030hrs Delta in Night Defense Position at BS847407 with the 14 snake will be BS843410 is now in position.
Echo Company
July 23, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0630hrs 4.2 Platoon fired DT 2, Schedule fires 15, observed Mission 2, total expend: 60 HE. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon at 0935hrs report no change in their location. At 1620hrs location at BS832375, found a mortar or RPG site, there is a hole with aiming stakes also some packing from ammo boxes only about 1200 meters from LZ Bronco Bunkers line. At 1630hrs Recon Platoon we have closed on LZ Bronco at this time. SP4 Darold L. Anderson was attached to 312th Evac Hospital (11C10).
