Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0200hrs Radar sighted 10 to 15 stationary personnel at BS726448, negative clearance due to the close proximity of friendly. At 0225hrs Radar sighted 5 to 6 stationary personnel at grid BS726401 we engaged the target with 12 HE and 28 VT rounds of 105 Artillery. At 0530hrs Radar sighted 5 to 7 stationary personnel at grid BS730430, negative clearance was given due to the close proximity of friendly. At 0957hrs 1-20 Infantry the Battalion Commander left LZ Liz on a Visual Recon and Bravo Company and returned to LZ Liz at 1030hrs. At 0958hrs IOS sighted 12 personnel swimming in the river with negative clearance they were Vietnamese children tending their cows. At 1054hrs Brigade Mo Duc security two ARVN platoons are to contact you on 11 Brigade secure (stager 02). The PF Companies with US advisors on MACV Mo Duc push (61. 35 Uncle), 1 PF platoon on the 1st bridge with US advisor and 1 PF platoon on the 2nd bridge with US advisors. At 1207hrs the VIP arrived at Bravo Company and left at 1230hrs. At 1430hrs S3 Air we picked up 1 Vietnamese female detainee, approximately 45 years old on the Bravo Company Combat Assault, she had no ID at gird BS7432. At 1950hrs 4-3 Infantry to 1-20 Infantry Delta Company 4-3 Infantry Night Defense Position is at BS748372 and the 32 element is at BS748373 and the Recon element is at BS757372. At 1950hrs Radar has 7 to 8 stationary personnel at grid BS778493 we expended 8 HE of Artillery 155. At 2015hrs 1-20 Infantry to Delta Company don’t move your blocking force until 0745hrs. The pick up of the Bravo 72 element will not be until that time. At 2150hrs Radar sighted 10 to 15 personnel, stationary, at grid BS730411, we engaged with 3 firecracker and 8 HE rounds of artillery. At 2247hrs IOS sighted 1 light at grid BS783435, negative clearance due to the close proximity of
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0955hrs Alpha Company all snakes have closed on LZ Liz. At 1100hrs Alpha Company we are moving off LZ Liz and at 1435hrs Alpha Company (-) is moving with their Recon in force to grid BS7544. At 1606hrs Alpha Company sweep to the north is complete, we have linked up with the 83 element and are sweeping west at grid BS752455. At 1751hrs Alpha Company we have closed on our Night Defense Position at BS745443. At 2035hrs Alpha Company reports their locations the 23 element is at BS735444, the 32 element is at BS750455, the 33 element is at BS748446 and the 34 element is at BS746455 and the 22 element at BS728447.
Bravo Company

At 0435hrs Bravo Company reports their 26 element is at BS785438. At 0640hrs Bravo Company the 25 has closed on BS783433, the 76 element closed on the South Bridge and the 32 element is moving to BS764463. At 0645hrs the 37 element is moving to checkpoint 1 at BS763447. At 0741hrs Bravo Company 72 element is moving out on their patrol to BS810407. At 0814hrs Bravo Company the Assistant Hamlet Chief found 3 propaganda papers were in English and the other in Vietnamese. The papers said "Go Home GI". At 0825hrs Bravo Company the 72 element reached its objective with negative results. The 32 element is sweeping to BS757459 and we picked up 1 detainee at BS757459. MACV will process the detainee, and Bravo Company continued to carry out their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation. At 0842hrs Bravo Company the 72 has closed on the North Bridge with negative finding. At 0948hrs Bravo Company the 32 and 36 elements have closed on the North Bridge. At 1207hrs Division the VIP arrived at Bravo Company and left at 1230hrs. At 1243hrs Bravo Company the 26 and 27 security elements are closing at this time. At 1420hrs Bravo Company conducts a Combat Assault of 1 platoon Bravo Company to LZ, PZ LZ Liz and 82 element to LZ BS748446 and the 81 LZ BS748452, 83 LZ BS752455 and 92 LZ at BS758454, was completed at 1440hrs. At 1430hrs S-3 Air we picked up 1 Vietnamese female, approximately 45 years old, on the Combat Assault, she had no ID. At 1605hrs Bravo Company the PF from the 169 PF platoon picked up 3 Chieu Hoi and they will be sent in through PF channels. At 1915hrs Bravo Company we need an Urgent Dust Off of 1 Vietnamese3 child with frag wounds of the penis and testicles and face. The wounds were received from a dud M79 round completed at 1925hrs at grid BS771461. At 2015hrs Bravo Company the 26 element is at BS783430 and the 75 element is at BS792422.
Charlie Company

At 0822hrs Charlie Company 76 element checked out the area of their ambush last night (BS734449) with negative finding. At 0831hrs Charlie Company the 34 element, while checking out the area of their ambush last night, found some tracks leading into some bushes. They found a pair of shower shoes, and some documents and pictures in the bushes. We are still checking out the area. At 0915hrs Charlie Company is heading to LZ Liz. At 0915hrs Charlie Company we are heading for LZ Liz at this time. At 1050hrs Charlie Company closed on LZ Liz, and at 1435hrs Charlie 22 element and other elements including element of Alpha Company Conducted a Combat Assault with Charlie Company 22 was picked up and brought to LZ Liz. At 1905hrs Charlie Company all our snakes are moving to the following locations 24 to BS759453, the 25 element to BS763737, the 36 element to BS774444 and the 75 element to BS770440 and closed at 2004hrs. At 2225hrs Charlie Company 24 element had one VC walk into their snake location at BS759453. We engaged him with small arms resulting in one VC KIA He was carrying a M-1 Carbine, 2 US frag grenades, old type, 30 round clip for an M-1 and some papers had writing on them. The VC was wearing green clothing, we also had another VC/NVA come back to the 24 location to see what the action was, engaged and he evaded the 24 element will stay at their snake location tonight. Charlie Company has taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Delta Company

At 0740hrs Delta Company the 74 element has closed on BS772386. At 0800hrs all our snakes have closed on BS764369 and the 72, 32 and 12 elements are moving out. At 0900hrs Delta Company reports the 32 elements at BS769388 and the 72, 52 and 12 elements is at grid BS769376. At 0920hrs Delta Company the location of the 22 element is at BS763389, we will accept re supply at this location. At 1030hrs Delta Company the 73 element found a tunnel at BS763387, two branches go back 30 feet each and met and then on 15 more feel, four feet high. Second large tunnel found by 73 4 ½’ high main tunnel 40 meters in length branches left for about 20 meters. At 1200hrs Delta Company the 72, 52 and 12 elements are moving to BS763389. At 1245hrs Delta Company our Night Defense Position will be at BS763395 (72, 12, 22 and 52 elements) and the 32 Night Defense Position will be at BS775400. Delta Company snakes are at 74 at BS763392, the 24 element at BS760400 and the 34 element at BS773404. At 1346hrs Delta Company the 72, 52 and 12 elements have closed on BS763389. At 1400hrs Delta Company the 2nd tunnel found by the 73 element was 4 ½‘high. The main tunnel is 40 meters in length and branches to the left for about 20 meters at grid BS736687. At 1625hrs Delta Company the 73 element has destroyed 2 tunnels and closed on BS763389. At 1640hrs 1-20 Infantry to Alpha Company Recon will have snakes tonight at the following grids BS735432, BS733432 and BS735435 with Charlie Company will have a snake at BS759453. Also Recon was informed of Alpha and Charlie Companies locations. At 1850hrs Delta Company has a Night Defense Position vicinity of BS763395 with the 32 element is moving to their Night Defense Position at BS775400. At 1920hrs Radar sighted 8 to 10 personnel that where moving northwest to grid BS735447, negative clearance was given. At 1922hrs Alpha Company 24 snake is at BS740452. At 1945hrs Delta Company the 24 snake is at BS760400 and the 74 snake is at BS763392. At 2018hrs Delta Company the 34 snake is at BS773404. At 2020hrs Radar sighted 1 to 2 sampans moving northwest at grid BS787478, we engaged them with 4 HE time fuse 105 artillery.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0655hrs 4.2 reports Supporting Fires 5 and Defense Target 3 for a total of 24 HE, 3 WP and 13 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 1640hrs 1-20 Infantry to Alpha Company Recon will have snakes tonight at the following grids BS735432, BS733432 and BS735435. Charlie Company will have a snake at grid BS759453, also Recon was informed of Alpha and Charlie Companies snakes locations. Delta Company has a Night Defense Position vicinity of BS763395. At 1750hrs Recon we are moving from LZ Liz to our Night Defense Position at BS735435. At 1925hrs Recon all snakes are position, the Little John is at BS733432, the Little Al is at BS735432 and the Night Defense Position is at BS735435.
