Forward Area: (1-20 Infantry Headquarters) is located at LZ Liz and will continue to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0940hrs Q Company, spotted 4 personnel vicinity BS647570 with IOS, Artillery sent an Aerial Observer to check it out and he had negative findings. At 1423hrs S-5 Med Cap with 1-20 Infantry Medics vicinity BS786424, commenced at 1420hrs, completed 1615hrous with the following results, treated 177 Vietnamese civilian, 34 skin diseases, 33 stomach disorders, 29 eye, ear, nose, throat problems, 19 upper respiratory problems and 62 others. At 1510hrs S-4 reports Dolphin 284 on station for resupply. At 1320hrs vicinity BS768466 a public health vehicles coming from Quang Ngai hit and killed 1 Vietnamese child. At 1800hrs PF 162 on the way to OP vicinity BS735570 received sniper fire from VC, 1 PF WIA negative Dust Off. At 2000hrs South OP spotted 4 personnel vicinity BS749426 with starlight scope, engaged with 4.2 Mortar with negative results. Legend: 1st Platoon 83-88, 2nd Platoon 33-38, 3rd Platoon 03-08, 4th Platoon 63-68 and CO 09.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company will continue to use Patrol Bases to use Saturation Patrolling in their Area of Operation. Alpha Company at 0953hrs the engineers discovered 1 booby trap, a can filled with Petna, with smoke grenade for a detonator. Trip wire was between two bushes, which was located about 300 meters from OP Wink. This was their 2nd booby trap today. At 1940hrs Alpha Company reports locations Command Post, 1st and 4th Platoon BS699563, 3rd Platoon ambushes BS692538, BS700540, 2nd Platoon ambushes BS697527, BS702564 and 1st Platoon BS674572 with ambushes BS676576, BS670580.
Bravo Company
December 23, 1970
At 1105hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon detained 3 personnel vicinity BS742456. They were dressed in ARVN uniforms, each with M-16 and fishing poles, and are not supposed to be in the area. Checked them out had military ID and were released. At 1752hrs Bravo 2nd Platoon in the vicinity BS746455 requested priority Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese female civilian, with a bullet wound to the neck, Dust Off completed at 1805hrs. Bravo Company heard some small arms fire from the eastside of the railroad berm at 1720hrs. The 2nd Platoon closed on their Night Defense Position at 1730hrs when two Vietnamese brought a woman to their location and the 2nd Platoon reports that the women was wounded by the fire that they heard early.
Charlie Company

At 0700hrs Charlie Company Platoon 3rd Platoon patrols closed vicinity BS759393. At 0700hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon vicinity BS734414, bought 4 M-79 HE rounds (lot MA 107-4), 2 M-79 Bouncing Betty (lot # MA 105-41), 1 105mm Artillery fuse, 1 firecracker pellet, M-26 grenade and all the ordinance was destroyed and paid out 3 boxes C-Rations. At 0750hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon is moving out for BS740421, Command Post, 2nd and 4th Platoons is moving from BS777390 and BS771410 to LZ Liz. At 0925hrs vicinity BS780394 requested routine Dust Off for 1 US heat casualty line #306, completed at 0935hrs. At 1230hrs Charlie Company 38 closed on BS730422, 88 closed on BS720438, and 57 closed on BS737422. At 1530hrs Charlie Company 37 element is moving out for BS745423. At 1740hrs Charlie Company 54 element at BS737420 bought 3 155 Artillery rounds, 2 105mm Artillery rounds, 1 105mm Artillery round, 4 meals C-Rations. At BS720430 the 12 element bought 1 106 round and 2 M-79, and 2 105 Artillery rounds for 2 meals of C-Rations. At 2032hrs Charlie Company the 54 element in Night Defense Position at BS742416, all mechanical ambushes out. Charlie Company Command Post and 4th Platoon is located at LZ Liz and taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Delta Company

Delta Company is moving out of LZ Liz and will start to use Multiple Patrols of their Area of Operation. At 1145hrs Delta Company Command Post is location at BS758393, 1st Platoon is located at BS758389, 3rd Platoon is at BS744413. At 1410hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon patrol is moving out for BS764386. At 1423hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS755399 and the 1st Platoon is at checkpoint 1, vicinity BS764386. At 1920hrs Delta Company Command Post 2nd 4th Platoon BS758393, 3rd Platoon BS750415, BS749411, BS740416, 2nd Platoon BS759395, BS746393, BS763398 and 3rd Platoon BS757388 1st platoon ambushes BS764387, BS758384 and BS763389.

Echo Company
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
