Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0240hrs Inferno Blue (Bravo 123 Aviation) is on station working special Intelligence Box, negative findings and at 0342hrs checking LZ Snoopy perimeter and at 0354hrs breaking station. At 0700hrs 1-4 ARVN at BS740447 while on raid got 2 VC KIA with 1 Car 15 and 5 Chi Com grenades CIA. At 0745hrs S-4 Resupply bird is on station Rattler 18 (176 Aviation Company). At 0830hrs LZ Liz Access Road is clear with no pressure truck. At 1600hrs 1-20 Infantry report Field Strength Alpha 51, Charlie 50 and Echo Company 24. At 1805hrs S-4 Resupply bird Rattler 18 broke station. At 2130hrs Inferno Blue (Bravo 123 Aviation) is working Box 55, at 2201hrs working Bronco perimeter, at 2227hrs working Snoopy perimeter and at 2249hrs working Nighthawk Box 61 and 54 and broke station at 2314hrs. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97 and CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company at 0940hrs Alpha Company PZ LZ LIZ moved to LZ at BS616338 received small arms fire and M-79 rounds from the southeast proximately 400 meters returned small arms fire and Gun ships engaged area with unknown results but they did draw fire on their run. The LZ was prepared with Artillery with unknown results, the 1 US WIA Dust Off by one of the Lift chopper and Dust Off WIA to 91 Evac. At 0/800hrs Alpha Company conducted Eagle Fight from BS715300 to BS673340, BS675324, BS689310, BS679310, BS616338 and BS715300 completed at 1725hrs all LZ cold.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and getting the LZ ready to turn over to the ARVN.
Charlie Company
August 23, 1971
Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. Charlie Company provides Security for movement of 1-20 Infantry forward TOC North and continues to prepare for 1-20 Infantry movement off of LZ Liz. At 0912hrs Charlie Company conducted Eagle Fight from BS729328 to BS675324 completed at 1610hrs at BS729328.
Delta Company

Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0700hrs Recon Platoon has closed on LZ Liz.
