Headquarters and Headquarter Company
September 22, 1969
Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0620hrs Bravo Company 1st PZ 0630hrs and 1st LZ at 0630hrs and 2nd PZ at 0639hrs and 2nd LZ at BS9647. At 0735hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Helix 37 putting in Air Strike at grid BS683436. At 1800hrs 1-20 Infantry informed all companies informed: Move Night Defense Position after dark or else makes sure you have over head cover.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. 0010hrs PP/SI-5 at 0100hrs at BS841382 picked up 5-7 persons at above and engaged with 10 rounds 81mm Mortar and 12 rounds 105 Artillery. At 0125hrs LZ Bronco reports on southeastern side of perimeter received 3 122mm Rockets with 1 hitting inside and 2 hit outside the perimeter.
Alpha Company

At 0350hrs Alpha Company 73 element is leaving the perimeter, 23 element will be leaving shortly 73 is located at BS728447 and the 23 element is located at BS716438, moving to their snake location and by 0455hrs both snakes are in location. At 0750hrs Alpha Company is located at BS736452 which they set up as a Day Logger and used saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1110hrs Alpha Company 43 element will be going out with sensor people. We will keep you informed on their location. At 1245hrs Alpha Company looking at BS736463 and the 43 element is closing on Day Logger position.
Bravo Company
September 22, 1969
Bravo Company conducts a Combat Assault 1st PZ at 0630hrs and the last LZ at 0647hrs completed and LZ cold. At 0702hrs Bravo Company at BS804417 1 US personnel walking through a hedgerow tripped a tripwire attached to a grenade, the grenade went off resulting in injuries to 1 US and 1 Vietnamese Command and Control Helicopter made the Dust Off, the US Last name was (PFC Kenneth E.) Volk and RF Tinh Thaen completed at 0711hrs. Also 2 US (M) frag wounds and treatment was accomplished in the field, SP4 Everett Hobbs and SP4 James Leahy. At 1215hrs Bravo Company 74 element is on the way to North Bridge and the rest of the element is at South Bridge. At 1805hrs Bravo Company Day Logger became their Night Defense Position at BS789416 with 74 at BS771416 and 75 at BS769404.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0737hrs Charlie Company 26 snake has closed on LZ Liz. At 2251hrs Charlie Company 76 element is now at checkpoint 1.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Snoopy.
Echo Company
September 22, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0555hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Schedule Fires 11 and Defense Target 3 for a total expended 38 HE and 1 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0800hrs Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1458hrs Recon element is moving off LZ Liz at this time and at 1600hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS776446 and at 1800hrs they are located at BS776447. At 2030hrs Recon has moved into their Night locations at BS778443 and 24 is at BS783433.
