Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0500hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar Targets At 1900hrs 3 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS732450 and engaged with 12 HE Artillery 105mm. At 0930hrs 5 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS728407 and engaged with 12 HE Artillery 105mm. At 2010hrs 6 to 8 stationary personnel were sighted at BS726402 and engaged with 16 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 2150hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS778497 and engaged with 15 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 2325hrs 20 to 25 stationary personnel were sighted at BS780498 and MACV was informed and at 2300hrs 15 to 20 stationary personnel were sighted at BS805424 and engaged with 74 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 2320hrs 7 personnel were moving north to south at BS726467 and engaged with 7 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 2335hrs 15 to 20 stationary personnel were sighted at BS805424 and engaged with 6 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0730hrs TMF at String 71 we have 8 to 10 personnel moving north to south at 4 Miles per hour with metal detected and engaged with 12 VT of Artillery 155mm. At 0915hrs 1-20 Infantry we request an Area of Operation extension from BS700428 to BS700390 to BS741390 time 222400 to 251200 May 1970, it was approved, posted and ten canceled. The TMF String 71 has a stationary target with detected and shot at 0852hrs with 12 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 1035hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry the 38 element is at checkpoint 2 at BS773533. At 1055hrs Charlie Company 26 engineer we destroyed a dud 155 round at BS773542. At 1130hrs M26 we have an element leaving the hill on a straight line northeast to the waterfront. At 1415hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry our new location is at BS767428 and the Night Defense Position will be the same. At 1730hrs 26 Engineer report: we had a total of 32 hours time and 500 gallons of fuel expended, 37 acres cleared in area BS760554 to BS770428 to BS777533. Also 2 bunkers were destroyed, 2 booby traps destroyed, 2 pounds of C-4 used, with the same 2 D7 not operational and 4 operational.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1828hrs Alpha Company are in their location on the Access Road.
Bravo Company

At 0045hrs Bravo Company we had a secondary explosion when a TOT was fired on Van Truong (BS788443). Bravo Company continued to use their multiple patrolling and saturation patrols, and some Day Ambushes in their Area of Operation and continued to work with ARVN Forces.
Charlie Company

At 0705hrs Charlie Company the 54 element is checking out the area where they got sniper fire from, grid BS747575 and the 36 element is checking out a rice cache at BS774578. At 0820hrs Charlie Company found and destroyed a booby trap 105 round with trip wire with 2 Vietnamese batteries attached and at BS765575 found large amount of penicillin and a red short also 1 NVA Uniform and White nurses uniform at BS765575. At 1050hrs Charlie Company we picked up 2 Vietnamese females, one age 23 and 27 with no ID and will be extracted to Military Intelligence. At 1510hrs Charlie Company request a routine Dust Off for one US with heat exhaustion and one US with a swollen eye and infected head, completed at 1540hrs, Line # 107 and 576 at grid BS753571. At 2025hrs Charlie Company we have VC/NVA on our internal push (identified by the interpreter) and request a push change. The interpreter thinks it is Chinese, the radio could not pick up the transmissions. At 2200hrs Charlie Company 58 element had a trip flare go off in checking the area a dog was found evading.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued to use Day Logger and saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1255hrs Delta Company we had one man with the 34 element hit by a piece of frag in the back of the right knee this morning while blowing a possible rice cache location. The wound was minor but the person had difficulty walking and will be extracted on back haul (Line #1365) at grid BS770541. At 1550hrs the 34 element took several rounds of small arms fire 500 meters to their front at BS770543 and returned fire and swept the area with negative results or findings. We picked up 4 female detainees with no ID, and aging from 20 to 50, in the area of contact and will be tag and send them to Military Intelligence. At 1919hrs Delta Company request a routine Dust Off for 1 US with a 102.5 temp, Line # 855 (Storey) completed at 1923hrs at grid BS770541. At 1920hrs Delta Company we received 3 60mm rounds and 20 rounds of AK 47 fire when just setting up in our Night Defense Position. The fire was from a wood line to the northwest of where we returned fire and called in Artillery at grid BS758553, and we are now moving into a new Night Defense Position. At 2020hrs Delta Company report the 34, 35, 36 are in their location also with 74, 75 and 77 elements and the 56 and 58 elements to their location (believe to be SP4 Michael C. Storey).
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
