Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0527hrs 1-20 Infantry LT Lee informed Charles Company to cut off the northeast portions of their operation box and stay out of the area of E Troop 1-1 Calvary. We will be firing artillery in the portion cut off (BS710420 to BS730400). At 0728hrs TMF at 0648hrs movement was spotted at string 65, 7 personnel were moving east to west and were engaged with 6 HE of Artillery 105. At 0840hrs the Brigade CO arrived at LZ Liz and left at 0907hrs. At 1315hrs E Troop 1st and 2nd and E Troop is at BS721425, Delta Company 12 is at BS756394. At 1325hrs Helix 31 we expended two bombs and destroyed a structure at BS821424. At 1620hrs Warlords snatched 4 Vietnamese detainees who were hiding at BS838406 and were turned in to Military Intelligence.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 22, 1970
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0715hrs Alpha Company the 34 element has closed on LZ Liz. At 0855hrs Alpha Company the 34 element has one female detainee at BS748438. She is 17 years old, has no ID, weapon, or documents. She is believed to be hamlet leader and wife of hamlet guerilla and will turn her over to Military Intelligence. The PRU say she is VC, she is wearing black pajamas. At 1010hrs Alpha Company 34 found about a ton of Rice at BS470440, the PRU, will bag the Rice and take it back to their unit. At 1853hrs Alpha Company the access patrols are roving in their respective positions. At 1908hrs the 34 element found 100 AK 47 rounds and 3 57 recoilless rifle rounds at BS750453. They were found in a hedgerow, by a Chieu Hoi they were evac to LZ Liz. At 1941hrs Alpha Company reports the 14 element is in location at BS750443.
Bravo Company

At 0804hrs Bravo Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for one Vietnamese civilian it is believed she swallowed some type of poison grid BS787424 completed at 0815hrs. At 0944hrs Bravo Company 35 is moving back to BS787424 we left a Vietnamese stay behind ambush to secure the area at BS775418. At 1557hrs Bravo Company 33 found and destroyed the empty graves found last night. At 1625hrs Bravo Company 15 element spotted 6 VC evading at BS804440, we requested War Lord in the area unable to tell if they had weapons. Artillery was called into the area with negative results. At 1716hrs Bravo Company 67 element found 3 detainees at BS764453and they were turned into MACV.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company will have 12 element use a Recon in Force to grid BS7040, BS7140 and BS7039. The 39 element will Recon in Force 500 meters radius of BS730390. At 1530hrs the 12 element found 2 sleeping positions, fresh tracks and signs of recent movement in the area of BS713407. At 1906hrs Charlie Company at their Night Defense Position BS734416 is joined by the stay behind the12 element ambush and reports all Snakes are in position by 1955hrs.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued to use Day Logger and saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0640hrs Delta Company we are moving out of our Night Defensive Position to our Day Logger at BS750396. At 0724hrs Delta Company closed on their Day Logger at BS756394. At 1315hrs Delta Company reports their location with E Troop at BS756394. At 1428hrs Delta Company element has closed on BS756394 and E Troop has closed on LZ Liz. At 1605hrs Delta Company 63 patrol is moving to BS754390. At 1900hrs all elements patrols have closed on BS756394 and the entire element is moving to Night Defense Position at BS757387. At 1939hrs Delta Company reports we are in our Night Defense Position at BS747392.
Echo Company
March 22, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0620hrs 4.2 Platoon reports scheduled Fires 13, Observed Mission 1 with a total expended of 45 HE and 20 Illumination. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
