Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0950hrs Delta Company 19th Engineers Mine sweep south found a mine on east shoulder of the road, was approximately 100 meters from bridge 98 found Mine was partially covered by sand, mine was blown in place at grid BS911264. At 1045hrs 1-20 Infantry request tracker dog team to work with Alpha Company in vicinity of where sniper shot one man and 1-20 Infantry was notified to pick up dog team. At 1059hrs 1-20 Infantry reports Command and Control Helicopter at BS843313, detained 1 VCS, man and took VCS to Alpha Company location for interrogation. At 1145hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC information on VCS, Interpreter says he is a VC doctor, also found on him NVA flag, stamps with stars on them, misc. documents and messages. Says he is from Kontum. At 1308hrs 1-20 Infantry E Troop at 1253hrs vicinity BS850324 detained 1 man 18-20 years old. Has 3 scars on shoulder appears to have been wounded at one time, will evac to LZ Bronco for questioning. At 1350hrs 1-20 Infantry request 2 scout dogs with handlers to change with the 2 presently working now. Pick up will be Southeast Pad at 230730hrs. At 2045hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC track on bridge 107(BS846323) sent PF out to check people moving, they found 12 males 3 female, which said they were moving because of mortars. They called their higher and said they would evac to Duc Pho in the morning. At 2145hrs MACV PF on Bridge 115 received small arms fire and 5-6 60mm, mortar rounds. Artillery has illumination area and scrambled flare ship and 2 sharks. Sharks fired in area BS7842-BS7840-BS8042-BS8040. Charlie Company 21 elements observed tracer fire, with negative assessment.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1130hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer request signal officer check into frequency interference on 57.90, interference is cutting out regular traffic.
Alpha Company
July 22, 1968
At 0756hrs Alpha Company is located at BS849314. At 1008hrs Alpha Company is at BS841309 received sniper fire 1 US WHA stomach wound, Dust Off called, and moving against sniper at this time. At 1045hrs 1-20 Infantry requests tracker dog team to work with Alpha Company in vicinity of where sniper shot one man. At 1059hrs Command and Control helicopter at BS843313 detained 1 VCS man took VCS to Alpha Company location for interrogation. At 115hrs information VCS interpreter says he is a VC doctor, also found on him NVA flag, stamps with stars on them, misc. documents and a message that says he is from Kontum. At 1205hrs 1st Platoon at Bridge 16, 2nd and 3rd Platoon and Command Post is located at BS841309. Alpha Company at 1400hrs is at BS841308. At 1430hrs Alpha Company found a spider hole with 2 M-16 rounds. In the same area found a camouflaged water hole containing 2 empty claymore bags, a 8 round clip for M-1 ammo and carved wooden rifle. At 1815hrs Alpha Company Night Defense Position is located at BS849313 with their ambushes at BS842314 and BS848308. At 1922hrs Alpha Company at BS845305 received heavy automatic weapons fire and M-79 fire, negative casualties firing Artillery on enemy position. SGT Samuel E. Miller gunshot wound and was evac to the 2nd Surgical Hospital at 1400hrs.

Charlie Company

At 0756hrs Charlie Company reports their locations 10, 30 at BS822401 and 20 is at LZ Bronco. At 1253hrs Charlie Company locations, 10 and Command Post at Night Defense Position at BS822403, 20 at LZ Bronco, and 30 at BS795396. At 1815hrs Charlie Company moving into Night Defense Position at BS822403 with ambushes at BS807410, BS823397, and BS838388.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown. At 0756hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon is located at BS904195 and 2nd Platoon at BS909185. At 1815hrs Delta Company is at Charlie Brown with ambushes at BS910194, BS903185, BS905176, and BS932221.
Echo Company
July 22, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0950hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS525445. At 1400hrs Recon Platoon re supply request 1 PRC 25, 2 handsets, 12 cases LRRP rations, 125 boxes heat tablets, 46 bottles insect repellent, 24 leach repellant. Also cigarettes from SP packs, 1 pair short pants, 1 pair small regular pants, 23 pair of socks, 12 assorted smoke grenades and 1 flashlight. At 1815hrs Recon Platoon reports their night position at BS525420.
