Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0515hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar at 1930hrs 5-6 stationary personnel were sighted at BS717443 and engaged with 8 HE VT of Artillery 155mm and at 2025hrs 4-5 personnel were sighted moving southeast at grid BS745457 and engaged with 18 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 2130hrs 5 to stationary personnel were sighted at grid BS735435 and engaged with 12 HE VT of Artillery 105mm and at 0245hrs 7 to 8 stationary personnel were sighted at BS738429 and engaged with 18 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0045hrs 4 to 6 stationary personnel were sighted at BS778409 and engaged with 18 HE VT of Artillery 105mm and at 0100hrs 5 to 7 personnel were sighted moving northeast at grid BS787392 and engaged with 12 HE VT of Artillery 105mm. At 0510hrs 2 to 3 stationary personnel were sighted at BS774407 and engaged with 9 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar. At 0637hrs 1-20 Infantry Battalion Commander left LZ Liz at 0638hrs on a Combat Assault and returned at 0720hrs. At 1000hrs The VC civilians are working on a dam at BS818395 and will have 4 flags around them. At 1145hrs 1-20 Infantry there will be 2 men from the tracker Dog Team to come to LZ Liz today to check over the area for the class tomorrow. At 1345hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC to Delta Company change your plans and Night Defense Position in the area south of the Tra Cau in grid squares BS7540, BS7640, BS7539, and BS7639, tomorrow Recon in Force in the area of box BS723434, BS743434, BS729400 and BS748400 and then Recon in Force to the access road. At 1530hrs 1-20 Infantry the assistant Division Commander arrived and left at 1545hrs. At 1805hrs 1-20 Infantry all bunkers are in satisfactory condition and all have plumb bobs with same inspection team.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

Bravo Company
February 22, 1970
At 0044hrs Bravo Company we requested an Urgent Dust Off, for 1 US with frag wounds to the chest. He received these wounds from an M-79 round came in from the northeast of their location (he was wearing his flak jacket and helmet at the time), they also received small arms fire for the southeast 10 sniper rounds. The US (Hamilton) died and the Dust Off was instructed not go into to pick up the KHA at grid BS776446, the KHA was pick up by Primo 4 at 0750hrs. At 0635hrs the 32 element has moved out to block at BS810409 and at 0641hrs Combat Assault of the 42 and 43 elements from BS783433 to BS819402, 1st PZ at 0655hrs and 2nd LZ 0700hrs. At 0710hrs Bravo Company we request an Urgent Dust Off for 1 PF (169) with frag wounds to the neck from a booby trap (Chi Com Trip wire type) completed at 0720hrs. At 0915hrs Bravo Company the 42 element found 1 RPG round at BS814407 and blown in place, at 0953hrs the Bravo Company 28 element uncovered a camouflaged spider hole, with a trap door large enough for 2 persons. The bunker was destroyed at grid BS814406. At 1020hrs at grid BS814403 the Bravo Company 28 uncovered a 4’ tunnel with a camouflaged type trap door the bunker was destroyed and at 1043hrs the 42 element found a 8’ underground tunnel with camouflaged tape door. The bunker and was destroyed at grid BS806412. Bravo Company also picked up 3 detainees today to be turned over for further questioning. PFC RONALD JOAQUINE HAMILTON IS LISTED AS KHA taken to 6 Support GRP at LZ Bronco.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1830hrs Charlie Company 44 element is moving to BS766422, with Charlie Company snake locations 76-BS766438, 76a-BS762436 and 76b-BS771440.
Delta Company
February 22, 1970
At 0722hrs Delta Company all snakes are closed on BS775395 and will be out in minutes. At 0940hrs Delta Company we pick up one Vietnamese female, 14-15, wearing black pants and blue top and appear to be in good health, carrying two large bags of polished rice. She has an ID card that looks false. The Kit Carson Scout thinks she is working for the VC. At 1055hrs we found a tunnel Complex, one main leg approximately 4’ high and 3’ wide, it was 100’ long. There also was 2 50meter legs the same size. Delta Company we requests 30 to 40 pound shaped charges to blow it. At 1115hrs Delta 34 found a tunnel complex possibly a little larger then the 1st complex and we will need an addition (30 or 40 shaped charges) to blow the complex at grid BS785374. At 1345hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC to Delta Company change your plans and Night Defense Position in the area south of the Tra Cau in grid squares BS7540, BS7640, BS7539, and BS7639, tomorrow Recon in Force in the area of box BS723434, BS743434, BS729400 and BS748400 and then Recon in Force to the access road. At 1545hrs Delta Company 32 is remaining behind with the engineer’s at grid BS785374. All other elements are moving to our Night Defense Position at BS753400. At 1830hrs Delta Company conducts a Combat Assault 1st PA from BS785374 at 1825hrs to BS753400 and last LZ at 1840hrs. At1930hrs Delta Company reports locations 44 snakes BS742438, 43 BS734432, 44 BS735437 and Night Defense Position BS743531.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0730hrs 4.2 Platoon reports we had a total expend 27 HE and 3 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1855hrs Recon Platoon we are moving to BS743431. At 1958hrs Recon Platoon reports all snakes are in location Night defense Position is at BS743431, 42 at BS742438, 43 at BS734432, and 44 at BS735437.
