Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0125hrs LZ Liz had and Alert at this time 100% at 0128hrs and Alert was satisfactory. At 0522hrs Inferno Black (Bravo 123 Aviation) working LZ Liz at 0528hrs, worked Bronco at 0533hrs and broke station at 0533hrs. (Inferno Black is a gun ship). At 0720hrs S-4 Resupply bird on Station Call sign Tattler 18 (176 Aviation) tail # 770. At 0945hrs Access Road is clear and open. At 1410hrs 2 ARVN Recon at BS849318 hit a mine results is 1 KIA and 2 WIA requested Dust Off. At 1700hrs Helix 31 is on station broke station at 1703hrs for contact mission. At 1725hrs 1-20 Infantry Blade for Day 23 Resupply Bird all Day, LOH from 1500hrs to 1600hrs. At 2032hrs Bunker 2 spotted 2 personnel approximately 300 meters in front of the bunker engaged with M-60 and 4.2 fired Defense Targets. At 2038hrs Bunker Line was on 100% Alert grid of action BS760434. At 2110hrs Inferno Blue (Bravo 123 Aviation) checking LZ Liz perimeter and working Nighthawk Box 21, at 2200hrs checked Bronco and at 2220hrs broke station. At 2131hrs Division to 11 Brigade assets on Day 29 for Combat Assaults will be extremely limited. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97 and CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is on LZ Liz preparing for Move West and LZ Liz to be turn over to the ARVN.
Bravo Company
August 22, 1971
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0125hrs LZ Liz had an Alert at this time 100% at 0128hrs and Alert was rated Satisfactory. At 2038hrs LZ Liz Bunker 2 spotted 2 personnel approximately 300 meters in front of the Bunker engaged with M-60 and LZ Liz Defense Targets fire Night Hawk made check of the area. At 2038hrs Bunker Line was 100% grid of action was BS760434. At 2050hrs sent out Patrol to check the area with negative results.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company at 1325hrs Charlie Company conducts Eagle Flight from BS729328 to BS719289, BS799299, BS784274, BS799284 and BS729328 completed at 1735hrs LZ were cold.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and prepares to move north and turn over LZ Liz to the ARVN. At 0125hrs LZ Liz had and Alert at this time 100% at 0128hrs and Alert was satisfactory. At 2032hrs Bunker 2 spotted 2 personnel approximately 300 meters in front of the bunker engaged with M-60 and 4.2 fired Defense Targets. At 2038hrs Bunker Line was on 100% Alert grid of action BS760434.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
