Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0645hrs 1-20 Infantry Command Message to all units "Malaria is on The Rise" everyone is responsible for individual protection you must take your pills. At 0750hrs Charlie Company conducts a Combat Assault from LZ Liz to BS742522 (13 element) 1st PZ and Last LZ 0804hrs. At 1620hrs AJAX Alpha Company 94, Bravo Company 96, Charlie Company 85, Delta Company 91, Recon Platoon 26 and 4.2 Platoon 27. At 1507hrs Delta Company conducts Combat Assault to grid BS816453 1st PZ vicinity BS758404 a 1521hrs and last LZ 1530hrs. At 1755hrs Delta Company is extraction 1st PZ 1805hrs and last LZ 1826hrs back to Delta Company. At 1810 Charlie Company reports Morris, Bernie, was hit by a truck while trying to board it while it was in motion he has injuries to his chest and groin. Dust Off Completed by Command and Control Helicopter at 1845hrs.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 1900hrs 1-20 Infantry has Information: on the Bunkers as we replace and rebuilt the bunkers.
Alpha Company
October 21, 1969
At 1210hrs Alpha Company reports Funny Wheels Dust Off (E Troop 1 Cav) at BS791515 of Two US with injured eardrums, resulting from an exploding mine (105-155round) a Pressure type device. The left track was blown off rolling wheels blown off and the left bottom aide cracked 6 inches. At 1620hrs Alpha Company Progress Report 250 areas cleared today by the engineers.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company again worked with Vietnamese using Day Logger with sweep and clear operations and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0950hrs Bravo Company at BS777414 found 5,000 pounds of unpolished rice under hut in Tunnel complex (in plastic cover). Also detained I Vietnamese female in same area (35 years old) with no ID and will evac detainees to LZ Bronco and rice to Refugee Camp also detainee 2 females with 2 children evac to LZ Bronco. At 0950hrs Bravo Company at BS777454 Urgent Dust Off we have 2 US and 1 RF with multiple frag wounds inflicted by booby trap both US has frag wounds in back, head and side. The RF had frag wounds to legs (172 RF Company), Dust Off completed by Command and Control helicopter at 1015hrs Names Parish (Platoon Leader) and Hickman (RTO). 2LT John C. Parrish and PFC Rayborn C. Hickman was evac.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued the Security Mission for LZ Liz. Charlie Company the 93 element is lift to BS745515, 1st PZ 0730hrs and Last LZ 0800hrs. At 1145hrs Charlie Company at BS744517 has 1 detainee with 250 piasters also found in his hut 4 PRC-25 Batteries that were disassembled. His ID checked out OK, will evac to LZ Bronco. At 1810hrs Charlie Company requests Dust Off for Morris, Bernie, was hit by a truck while trying to board it while it was in motion, he has head injuries by Charlie Company at 1845hrs.
Delta Company
October 21, 1969
At 0005hrs Delta Company 73 element is in their second pre-planned location. At 0200hrs the 93 element is moving into the second phase. At 0255hrs the 13 element cannot continue on their 3rd phase because of water at their present location BS738403. Delta Company all snakes have closed. The entire company is moving out to Day Logger. At 0910hrs Delta Company at grid BS753409 we found command bunkers, one was full of water. We blew them and are now proceeding to Day Logger at BS758404. At 1507hrs Delta Company conducted a Combat Assault to grid BS816453. The 1st Pick up Zone BS758404, 2 Lifts, Last Landing Zone at 1530hrs. At 1650hrs Delta Company grid BS816453 we have 1 VC KIA who was evading across a rice paddy. He would not halt so we opened fire. We also have some documents, which appear to be KAQ codes and papers pertain to communications. At 1715hrs Delta Company at grid BS816453 the 13 element and Kit Carson found 15 9mm rounds, 1 NVA pack, one NVA uniform, medical supply and GI bug juice, 1 poncho liner and l wallet. At 1745hrs Delta Company report at grid BS810455 spot 2 VC/NVA that run in a bunker, the 75 element engaged and 2 VC/NVA and 1 SKS serial number 11427685. The Report on the NVA pack that was captured earlier, it contained medical mask, medical scissors, clothing uniforms (green) and a few pair of black pants. There were documents and some of these were on supply orders for picking up rice, roster on military personnel, strength report, and a book on medical aid evac to Military Intelligence at LZ Bronco. At 1755hrs Delta Company extraction completed at 1826hrs. Delta Company report on Chieu Hoi: The Chieu Hoi was very favorable. He led us right to the location where we found a camouflaged trap door that led in to family bunkers that hold 4-5 people. The Chieu Hoi said everyone must have left the area when they found out he was missing. We picked up two female VC suspects at grid BS803452. At 2000hrs we moved into Night Defense Position at BS757398, and at 2235hrs the 73 snake at BS759403 and the 93 snake at BS759391 where in position.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0815hrs Recon Platoon report that National Police inserted into our location by the Command and Control Helicopter. At 1255hrs Recon Snake location for tonight is BS758412. At 1855hrs Recon Platoon has moved into their snake location and at 1945hrs we are no in snake location BS788412.
